Wowzers, two inadvertent references to Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters in one thread!

A little more Hippie History: The Merry Pranksters had a school bus that they modified and used to drive around the country. They named it "Furthur" – the misspelling was theirs, not mine.

On their tour with the Kool-Aid Acid Tests, the saying "You're either on the bus or off the bus" was used as an invitation and/or challenge. Oh, and the band called themselves The Warlocks in the earliest "test." They became The Grateful Dead in 1965.

I love some Grateful Dead/Kesey history on this board! Keep it up!

Walls dropped the interception against Stanford . I have had a separated shoulder, and I couldn't even raise my arm above 90 degrees for a month.
And he almost made that interception in the endzone, with a big reach above his head.
Give these kids some slack; they are really trying and playing with passion.
GO IRISH

It didn't even take a replay to see that Walls had hurt his shoulder. The guy is balls to the wall. I really need to divorce myself from ND football, because when I saw the play, I immediately pulled out the vacuum cleaner and started cleaning the carpet. Problem there is that I have no carpet.

Side note. Rudoplh is limping. Wood has not had anything to run towards. I don't like the spread running so far. Matter of fact, I don't like the spread offense, but that is my problem. When TDHeysus and BigEDefense and AraLou and Coach Johnson and I take over, we will own college football. It is the fault of a new system. Not so much Wood.

He definitely will benefit from more time in the weight room and at the training table. If he puts on 10 pounds or so of muscle and keeps his speed, he could be the real deal. Until then, he's a shifty home-run threat but not much of an all-around tailback.

I don't think he's going to put on much more weight. This is more of a young guy lacking some confidence and not having a lot of running room in front of him.

He was about 190 coming out of high school. By his own admission he was almost 220 earlier this year. That's a huge weight gain! I believe he said in an interview that Longo wanted him to drop 10 pounds so now he's down to 210. Maybe he's still adjusting to running at 210 opposed to 190 in high school, but I don't think he'll add more weight over the next few years.

The S&C will always help, but I think he just needs to get comfortable playing football again, work on the blocking and start hitting the hole harder.

Yea, Brady Quinn, Samardzija, Jimmy and Golden are CLEAR examples of guys who regressed under Weis' "coaching."

Love the sarcasm. Weis maybe developed half a dozen players, and only specialists on offense. Bring in a truck load of talent and SOMEONE has to develop, right? I am a fan of Weis but defending his track record on this is pretty blind IMO. All of the focus on the NFL and most of our top round picks (not very many at that) were dropping like stones on draft day.

I like the recruiting story and it seems Kelly may have prepped recruits not to expect instant success. The d-line is not pushed backwards every play they are just thin and young behind the starters. The offensive line is dramatically improved. These are the units that take longest to develop and will have the most impact on the sustainable success of a football team.

Just go out and pummel some dirty, stinking Eagles this weekend. Can we just start owning MSU and BC before we start raising our expectations too much? Like every other week, I go into this one knowing we CAN beat this team and excited to see how our boys lay it all out.

I agree that the offensive line has improved this year, but they are still a world away from being good and they have no chance against a good to great defensive line. Stanford got a lot of pressure with three line men rushing.
BC stuffs the run just about as well as any team in the country.
If we can rush the ball against BC, Kelly and his coaches are geniuses.
