Can't believe we're back to talking about DJ as a WR!!! We hashed this over so many times last year it is unbelievably redundant.

DJ himself addressed this issue when he was recruited. He stated that Weis told him he was being recruited as a QB and that's where he wanted to play. I think we ought to give him the chance to fail as QB ( which I do not believe he will do ) until we move him to another position. It is my opinion he will be the ND QB next year. Sharpley has a better future in baseball. If that is not the case either he, or Frazer, will transfer. We will not have 4 QB's on the team.

I'm sure he wants to be the QB and he'll get his chance with CW running things. But, in every arena from business to sports to whatever, you have to be flexible. If this team is going in the right direction (and I believe it is) I would hope that DJ would do what is best for the team even if that means a position switch. He is an athlete and if he could provide an upgrade at WR, I would love to see it. However, if he beats out Clausen for the QB job, great. You are right, though, I don't see having 4 QBs on the roster.

Agreed, 100%.... I'm assuming Stalking stated that in jest, if he didn't he's a dick like Ralphi was. The practical thing is to switch DJ becuase he can, not becuase the color of his skin. I can't believe it is 2006 and we still think that way. I played CFB with 110 guys, several were minorities by skin, and I thought of all of them as family. If I were DJ and I looked at this board and I would just laugh.

When he was recruited we didn't have Clausen in fold(though still not signed), that changes everything. If he isn't the best player I guarantee CW will not play him, if not then play him at WR ala Matt Jones, Arnez Battle, Carlyle Holiday..

Plenty of athletic QBs have made that switch in the NFL so I'm sure they can do it at the college level.

Jones will have to be a "good, pro-style" QB, to make it in Charlie's offense. I just can't see CW running an option offense. If Jones can be the "pocket passer" type, then his atheletic running ability will be a plus for escapability from the defensive pass rush.

No one seems to be giving Frasier a chance. Both Weis and Cutcliffe, at the time, were extremely high on him. You see what Cutcliffe has done with the offense at UT!! We also see what CW has done with both Bradys. Frasier is the classic pro-style QB. I look for one helluva QB battle next spring and fall. Sharply also can't be too shabby if CW has him as Brady's back-up.

Clausen's hype precedes him. He's obviously a pro-style QB. Pro-style is what CW knows and he does what he does with what he knows. DJ seems to be the only orange in the apple barrel. Because he is such a good athelete, and because of the number of QB's that ND will have, I see Jones switching positions. I don't think he would transfer.

Finally, I think ND is going to much better next year than everyone is prediucting. I think the O line will be very good and actually an improvement over this year's group.

I believe he will be the starter next year..no doubt!
we'll have a young O-line and will need a mobile QB.

I remember when we were getting ready for GT and they used Jones to simulate Reggie Ball. Everyone comented on how well he moved but what amazed everyone was his arm. They said coaches kinda stopped and watched how well this kid threw the ball. The defense said he burned them twice in one scrimmage for over 50 yard TD plays.

I can't believe were actually talking about having to many GREAT QB's. Nice for a change huh. Jones said he came to ND to be a QB and that was that. I have a feeling once the dust settles and CW picks his next golden boy, we might see a transfer.

Thanks for pointing this out! Everyone has just cast Fraser aside for some reason.
I think he'll be #1 or #2 next year(Clausen/Fraser).

Jones will be a holder, long snapper, punt returner,RB, WR and DB. He will break an NCAA record for most end around fake TD passes in I-A history. His nickname Double Duty is thus rendered useless.

Frazer will eat and lift his way into a defensive tackle, Sharpley will become a student assistant coach, Clausen wins the QB job but Mustain transfers and Weis goes to a two headed monster passing attack.

Suddenly, the Urban-Leak-Tebow method just isn't that cool anymore.

Wow. It's like you can see the future. Nice predictions, Jigga. Let's track these to see how many come true.

And a world renowned plastic surgeon will open a practice in South Bend, IN luring wannabe bimbettes and ,coincidentally, potential five star recruits for ND football.
I think you're right Jigga. I think I see all this happening.

Not entirely related to switching to WR but during today's post practice press conference CW was asked about Jones' ability to run the option. Weis said he has the skill to do it but "if he had his druthers he'd be back there slinging it". I take for that that the kid is a QB and wants to be a QB.
