Today marks the second time in recent history that Notre Dame picked up a Safety commitment from Youngstown Ohio with the last name of McCarthy. This time it came from Dan McCarthy, a 6'2" 190 pound all around athlete that'll line up at Safety for the Irish. Dan is the younger brother of current Notre Dame Safety Kyle McCarthy, and he choose the Irish over schools such as Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford, Boston College, LSU, and Oklahoma. With his commitment Dan becomes the 18th member of the Irish '08 recruitng class.
