If someone who is objective were to look at these posts they would wonder what we're thinking. I think we have set very low expectations at this point so and are looking for some silver linings. How many sacks did we have? How many times did their QB throw the ball out of bounds like JC? We sold out to stop the run (2 weeks in a row) the result is a lousy overall result to a mediocre QB. We came up big to make some plays but shouldn't have been in that situation, 4th and 17......really? We played good enough to win....again but probably will have the worst ranked defense in the top 25 this week. Do love Teo. It is the first time since Ndukwe that we have someone who can stick.

I was only talking about our front 7. Onve again we have 4 1st and 2nd year guys starting and they are getting better each week. None of these guys are even close to reaching their full potential either. Fleming is getting consistant pressure, even if he doesnt get a sack. KLM has been solid against the run. Manti has been as good as advertised and he has opened the field up for Brian Smith to make plays as well. Ethan Johnson seems to be adjusting well. These guys are starting to get it.

Rivals article brought up a good point. We have 2 defensive coordinators who like two different schemes

CB: 3-4 guy who like press coverage
JT: 4-3 guy, blitz happy and likes zone

Maybe the problem is too many chefs in the kitchen.

CB's defensive scheme >>>>>>>> JT's defensive scheme

Remember last year? The secondary could actually cover someone and could force incompletions, once in a while.

Robert Blanton as a true freshman was better last year than Robert Blanton as a true sophomore.

But we couldn't stop the run last year. You'd think that we would actually be able to field a defense that could actully stop the run and the pass or at least slow both down. Seems like it has to be one or the other with this defense. Very frustrating to watch them play with big play after big play. Same as last year except this year we have a good offense.

I defintely agree we are improving in the front 7 and hope for continued improvement. I still think BC had too much time to throw (how many sacks?). I think they had given up 21 before our game. I'm just saying if you happen to watch the game our D and LB's don't stand out on the passing downs. I would even say that the BC QB had too much time too often. With that said they are better than the secondary who I thought suffered from the QB getting too much time but eve when they do get to the QB our guys leave the receivers open.

You guys gotta be terrified with the way Walls and H. Smith always seem confused. Looks like Walls has lost the start for now, but your an injury away from being back into the same mess. Not that Blanton or Gray are exceptional improvements. These guys are not that bad of athletes - they just are not smart football players.

I dunno but I certainly enjoyed that Penn State game...

We'll adjust. Thats what good teams do. Oh yeah, and we'll make a big bowl game.

Many people seem to forget that these are still kids and that they are improving. The defense should be much better next year, the front 7 has improved this yearalone and will only get better next year with more guys being able to contribute. The secondary has athletes so the problem is either mental or coaching. However do not expect an elite defense.

The offense should be in good shape regardless. It would help if Clausen and Tate return but we have enough weapons around them to keep it going. We do lose 2 tackles but the backups will be an upgrade in athleticism.

The team will be better next year, but only time will tell how much.

I'm sorry to answer that un-intelligently. I will cite Jason H's prediction for improvement in the thread addressing next year. I actually concur and feel this post relative to the response at hand considering an observation from a Michigan, Michigan State, West Michigan, or Central Michigan fan. I kinda hope the gentlemen supports Central Michigan. I enjoy them and, in fact, them alone...

Anyone notice I answered that the way the 12-year-old should have his bozo buddies? Damn I've been an ND fan for a long gosh dang time. It took me a while to brainstorm answers like this.
