Moved quickly, yes. But usually it comes down to finalizing contracts and deciding on salaries and the like which is what takes time.

They clearly wanted Freeman and so the salary was decided on much more quickly than usual.

Posters and writers at ISD did mention the Bob Hinton Defensive Coordinator title. That guy endowed $5M last year to ND just to pay for DCs. Thank you Bob as that money may have made this much easier for ND to wrap up Freeman!

ND is trying to get a lot of the coaching positions endowed. There are 5 of the positions on the football team already endowed:

Marcus Freeman--- Bob Hinton Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
Tommy Rees --- John and Bobbie Arlotta Family Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Brian Polian ---Special Teams Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator
Terry Joseph ---Pat and Jana Eilers Family Defensive Backs Coach/Pass Game Coordinator
Lance Taylor ---Running Backs Coach/Run Game Coordinator
Del Alexander --- Wide Receivers Coach
Jeff Quinn --- Offensive Line Coach
John McNulty --- Tight Ends Coach
Mike Mickens ---Cornerbacks Coach

We should be thanking all of them. Every endowed position lets us either offer more money or redirect that money to other uses. And we should probably especially thank Pat Eilers. Not only did he take a sabbatical from his PE firm to basically become a GA for a year, he then endowed an assistant coaching position.
