For all the bellyachers and whiners out there that whined and complained about Crist and he is not a good quarterback and this ridiculous QB contoversy..., now you have no reason to complain. Now you guys will focus your belly aching about Rees because now Crist is hurt and gone for the season. Hope all you Crist haters out there are happy. You know..., the kid tried his best and was trying to learn something he wasn't used to. Let's rally around Rees now and show him some support. This kid stepped in and played his heart out and even though I am disappointed we lost, I give my hat off to this young man and he played his heart out. Lets at least show this young man that we are behind him and support him.

I do like Rees more for the future then Dayne, what scares me is the season for throwing that ball at the end? Has there actually been a explanation by the coach for that call yet?

It seems to me that the offensive coord. just throws the playbook out the window and tells Dayne just go for it. With Rees it's a way different story, they seem to simplify the playbook for him..

Do ya think so???? Considering BK said as much after week 2 that he watered down the playbook for his backups.... Thanks Kreskin!!!!

The play should have been a TD. 6'4" Floyd was behind the 5'7" cornerback who was covering him and the safety was out of it. Had the throw been where it was supposed to be, that is, high at the back corner of the endzone, it was a TD.
This was the correct call. Remember they had blocked a PAT and we had one blocked before (both up the middle). Going for the TD was right as we have some problem with the special teams which has not been corrected.
If they had blocked the FG attempt you would be all over Kelly for not trying for the TD on third down.
What is the coach supposed to do? Dumb down his calls? Not trust his QB and best receiver?

This is the logic that you apply, when you are at full strength. When you have a true freshman, backup QB in the game, your first priority is to win. You do what you have to, to win the game. You don't foolishly gamble. You correctly point out that ND has given up two blocked kicks, this year. Ruffer is 13-13 on FGs, and 22-23 on XPs, this year. That's a 97% success rate. I would bet your life that that's SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the success rate of a true freshman back-up QB completing a 19 yard TD pass, to ANY receiver. It was the wrong call. You can try to justify it anyway you want, but Kelly took a fairly low percentage option, over a MUCH higher percentage option. He did not do his job, in this game. His job is to give the kids the best chance to be successful.

LOL at that, given enough time, irish lore will transform this into "the improbable and famous interception that the courageous 4'2" Tulsa dwarf made on our 8 foot giant of a WR".

He's playing, and not thinking. Tommy's doin a good job of reading the defense, and getting the out quickly. He's not wasting time trying to think of what he's goin to do, he's just going out and playin ball.

Again, this is Tulsa, is it him? Or is it a bad Tulsa defense? Nomatter what, he has come a long way since UM, and he is doing great for a true freshmen.

I believe Tulsa is just that bad. If Crist were to play out the entire game the game would have been in hand. Justin Bieber could have thrown for 300 yards against Tulsa.

With the injury to Crist, Reese may be our starter next year depending on the extent of his rehab.
