oh man this is not good. Nelson looked like a nice recruit, watched alot of video on him. We can't rush and hire any coach, but it would help the recruiting effort big time if we got a coach soon.

Were gonna lose recruits, and potential recruits are gonna lose interest in us but we must focus on hiring the right coach.

David Nelson comes back!

David Nelson comes back!

David Nelson committed back to Notre Dame, according to Rivals & Blue and Gold.

Thats great news I was getting worried about losing recruits hopefully we can get Harrison ( Iowa and Michigan the leaders) back, and get Wilson back...

We'll see. I don't count anything or anyone in or out right now.

I agree. I hear he really wants to go to Texas. Mack Brown hasn't offered him I think.

Blue and Gold says he's back, But Tom Lemming On ESPN insider says he's not. Can someone tell me if he is or isn't. I hate recruiting its enough to drive someone nuts.

Rey Maualuga's SAT scores were to low for ND. He took the retake for ND, but by the time he gets the results it will be late feburary, which will be way past signing day. So ND is out of the mix with him. Too bad we had a decent shot at getting him, I think he could be an impact player right away.

As for offensive linemen, Paul Duncan looks like a lock, ND is his favorite, he's a top 25 ranked offensive tackle. A.J. Trump who also was a lock has committed to Miami, he was upset about the Ty firing. Eubanks was interested but his visit was canceled due to the Ty firing, and he committed to Iowa, Doering who's the best tackle in the country had ND and Iowa as his favorites, but the Ty firing has made Iowa the clear cut favorite. Weis is paying him a visit today though, maybe he can lure him back.

Bob Stoops and OU are in the hunt for Doering too. It will be tough to count them out. Dan Stevenson also went to Barrington. Hopefully they're using him in the process of recruiting Doering. Can't hurt.

Urban Meyer is now going after David Nelson hard, Nelson is visiting florida in a couple of weeks. Texas has now got into the mix.

David Nelson is a big fan of Urban's offense.

hey did anyone watch the hawaii game last night? it was on espn, and i was wondering who the douchebag commentators were last night bashing notre dame for firing ty, and then bashing weis. they said he hasnt even started recruiting and ty would have done a better job. they were real shitty announcers, and they can go to hell.

Oh yea, I didn't hear that. Sounds silly to be bringing that up during some bowl game. Honestly we have 8 commits right now if Ty were here we'd have a few more, whats the big deal in a few more recruits, when your getting a better coach. Notre Dame are like the yankees and cowboys, their national teams therefore many people will hate them and bash them. i read a great article with coach Ara earlier today, he said that in 1964 ND had the same shit goin on as it does now, they were saying the schedulae was to tough academics were to tough, and look 40 years later the media is still at it.

ND is the biggest powerhouse in all of college football alwys will be. what team gets this kinda publicity when there bad. only the yanks and the cowboys.

I think somebody just needs to bitch slap Nelson! I can understand looking around for your best offer, but whats the purpose of giving a verbal with the option to change his mind. Why not just wait and have a definite answer then stick with it. Changing your mind all the time just makes you sound weak.
I can see recruits leaving a school after they give their committ, if the school under goes major changes (like ND did with firing Willingham). But giving a verbal committ with the option to change your mind? What is that all about? You should explore your options and then give a verbal.
Well at least that is my understanding of a verbal committment. For a man its should be just the same as signing on the dotted line.

Its just the way it is these days. The next thing you are going to see is him on ESPN with two hats while everyone sits in suspence. He will then let all of us know he has decided to take his talents to Florida(I fogot to mention one of his family members will be in the background trying to get air time)Good thing he is not a five star recruit,so we may not have to sit though that.Oh well, I guess I will just have to watch the NBA where at least its known eighteen year olds run the show.I can watch everyone dribble to the hole and then cry they got fouled.I love this game.

You're right. These press conferences make me sick. Honestly, who the hell do some of these young punks think they are? this whole situation is allowing these kids to have leverage over the situation. The fact of the matter is, and I know people are going to disagree, but you sign a letter of intent to THE SCHOOL, not the coach. It is a fact that gets overlooked far too often. If you've seen or signed a letter of intent, which I have, it says it right on there. The guy that recruited me my senior year in high school was gone after my second year. I committed to the school and stayed there.

Nelson would be smart to stay with ND. Stovall, Mcknight, and Shelton only have one more year left. Nelson will be a starter by his 2nd year.

Florida has recruited tons of really good receivers the last couple of years, not to mention some of the top WR's this year have interest in Florida. So most likely if Nelson goes to Florida it will be a long time until he's a starter.

Brandon Harrison is also stpid for going to Michigan, over the last few years Michigan has recruited better then us in the secondary. Brandon said he went to michigan to get early playing time, well if it was early playing time he wanted he should've came to ND.

I would have to agree with both of you.

I just finished reading all of the recruiting articles Irisheyes.com had posted since Coach Weis has taken over. And even with the few yellow bellies jumping ship I am really impressed with his recruiting efforts this far. I think we will finish this recruiting season alot better off than now that we changed Coaches.
Alot of the prospects are very pleased with Coach Weis and want to play for him.

Man, I hope you're right. Your glass is definitely half full. I think the whole situation has been a disaster. Remember, ND has lost 3 verbals and several official visits since this whole debacle began. Weis is working more damage control than he is recruiting right now. I'm not going to hold by breath for the 2005 class, but one year from now should be outstanding. Whatever he can scrape up this year is gravy.

I sure wouldnt hold your breath this year.He just needs to fill the roster with big bodys. The skilled guys will have to wait till next year.It will all come down to what happens on the field(even tonight could help out a lot). The recruits will come if we have somthing to sell. He has a solid (although misguided) offense next year.He should be able to do some good things.Give him a full season to recruit and then we will talk.I do think he will surprise us in Feburary as long as we are not expecting a top class.ND will return!!!
Also does anyone have websites with good info.(beside ndnation, bgi.and irisheyes)

Yeah Im pretty confident the recruiting has a good potential to be better then it would be if Ty was still in charge. And thats all Im saying. I dont think this class will be top ranked in the country. But I think like people have said it will surprise us.
Next year will defintely be alot better. I can see alot of kids that didnt pay attention to the Patriots being alittle hesitant. Alot of kids might hear their friends talking about how they Think ND is going down hill and they will not want to go there. Hell I had no idea who Weis was before he got the job, due to the fact that I dont watch Professional sports much anymore.
Give him a year and ND will be attracting the 5 stars again. I mean acouple each class.

i think so too. i cant wait to see the irish next year. this class has some good players so far, but college football is so unpredictable at times. some of these one or two star players may actually become great and hopefully represent the university in the nfl someday. we might get lucky with who we have in this class so far, you really cant tell. but i agree next year weis will bring in at least 2 blue chippers.
