They tend to wait until Thursday or Friday to post 'em, but this is a holiday week...

For the Pitt game, I just e-mailed the Program Director at my local ABC affiliate, and they responded within hours, a full day before the map was posted by ABC.

As the length of this post will surely attest, I am extraordinarily bored this morning... ;)

This was the link to the coverage map for 9/24, the day of the Notre Dame-Washington game. That day, we were competing for regional coverage with Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech. The entire southeast got VT-GT, while the rest of the nation got ND-UW.

This week, we're competing with Georgia-Georgia Tech, so I would expect the coverage map to be similar, with maybe a little extra lovin' for the Irish in parts of the southeast. (Dammit, I'm in Florida, so I'll probably have to shell out for pay-per-view this weekend. I guess I'll call my landlord again.)

If the file naming pattern holds true, this week's map would be behind this link here. As of right now though (11/24 at 5:45am Eastern Time), the link pulls up a 404 error. And I did some sniffing around, and it appears that they stopped following that file naming pattern with the coverage map for October 1st. So, there may actually be a map floating around out there with a different file name that nobody's figured out yet. Or they just haven't bothered to post it yet either.

For best results, just e-mail your friendly neighborhood ABC affiliate Programming Director and look for an answer on Friday. They're the person who would know first anyway. And of course, be polite, but give 'em a nudge. ;) "Which regional coverage games are you covering this weekend? Golly, I sure hope it's Notre Dame-Stanford. That'd be swell!"

Courtesy of a poster on The Blue-Gray Sky... (and for the uninitiated, the only Notre Dame sites I consider to be essential are IrishEvny.com and The Blue-Gray Sky. Everything else is window-dressing.)

If you're in a black area, you get Notre Dame-Stanford. If you're in a blue area, you get Georgia-Georgia Tech and a pay-per-view bill.

abc.com has their schedule and they have ND Stanford in the 8:00 pm slot - so i would assume that this is a National Game and not a Regional Telecast. Let's hope so. The bad news is that they don't have the HD logo on the game so I think it is not a high def game.

This from the abc website:

Nov. 26, College Football: A doubleheader. First, regional coverage of Oklahoma State-Oklahoma, Virginia-Miami or South Florida-Connecticut (3:30 p.m. ET). Then, at 8 p.m. ET, Georgia-Georgia Tech or Notre Dame-Stanford.

Thank God I don't live in the South. I'd be an unhappy camper this weekend.

Thanks guys! Thank the Lord I live in deep south Florida.

Yeah thanks alot guys. I live in North Carolina. I'll have to pay for the game. Screw Tech and Georgia! I don't care who wins that game.

That map isn't accurate. It has Maryland viewing the Ga - Ga Tech game when in reality ABC in Washington is showing the ND game.

The way I'm reading that map, Baltimore's ABC affiliate is showing Georgia-Georgia Tech while DC's ABC affiliate is showing ND-Stanford. Looks accurate to me. Makes perfect sense when you have two overlapping markets like that... give everyone what they want.
