Its a long season...every team needs a little morale boost every now and then.

To be honest, even though I can't stand A-Rod, I don't see how you can't give him the MVP. He has really held the Yankee team together, something the Jeter had been praised for doing for the past several years. Though Mags has put up a good fight I don't think anyone can neglect the fact that A-Rod has had an incredibly dominant season.

One question remains though and I'd love to know what yank fans think. Does A-Rod leave after this season or will he stay a Yankee (with a nice little pay increase)?

I haven't been following the situation that closely but I get the sense that he may well go elsewhere. But we'll see - it all depends on whether the Yankees are serious about becoming more frugal. To be honest I don't like the guy much either, but it sure is nice to have him on your team.

Can't argue that. Its not like A-Rod is a clubhouse cancer or anything....he's no Sheffield, but he may provide a small side show, other than that how could any team not want a guy who can consistantly put up 35 homers and 120+ rbi's every year? The glove can be a little shaky at times there at third, but that may be more of a head thing. All in all A-Rod is an incredible player, it just so happens that he plays for the yankees so I hate him.

ARod is playing a gold glove third base this year and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins his first glod glove at 3B. As far as ARod leaving that is a tough one to call. He is the Yanks best player and they need to sign him. But if ARod opts out that will piss the yanks off to no end because Texas is still paying part of his salary. Hopefully he stays the remainder of his contract and the Yanks sign him to a contract extension that will probably pay about 30-35 million a year.

It may not be first place (still 7.5 back from there), but we're 4.5 out of the wild card and CLOSING ...

Don't forget the game against baltimore where they need to resume it in the 8th inning leading 8-5. There is another half game on both ends. Alot games to be played and the pressure will eventually shift to either the Sox or the Indians or I dare to say the Mariners. I can't wait for the inevitable collapse and you yank fans know what I'm talkin about, keep the faith.

... and A-Rod jacks #35!

... and Matsui makes it back-to-back for a 6-1 lead!

May I call a preemptive 6.5?

My oh my things are getting interesting now. Especially now that Schilling is opening his big mouth again about Bonds n McGwire about steroids. Hey Curt how about winning some games before your ego gets in the way because you're not on the front page. Either way the Yanks will make the playoffs and I will relish the feeling of beating the sox.... again!

So far, so good tonight (we're up 6-1 in the fifth, Boston's down 3-1 in the fifth). What do you think are the odds we go 33-23 the rest of the way and finish with 90 wins?

They better win 90 games if they want to make the playoffs.

they could and should win 90 games. To much power on that team not to. It's going to come down to the pitching for the yanks

2 back from the wild card now, but still 7 in the division thanks to the O's bullpen.

The pressure of the 500 HR mark seems to be getting to A-Rod - he's 0-for-21 since #499.

It's all good the yanks are killing the ball without him hitting. A-Rod will break out again and carry the yanks when some of the bats go cold.

Just one back from the wildcard now.

How did Hughes look on Saturday? I know his numbers weren't good, but did he get smacked around real bad or just have bad luck? Did it seem like he had decent stuff?

Didn't see the game so I couldn't tell you. Looking at the bottom line not so well, but it's his first start back.
