College hockey has finally begun! Minnesota-Duluth got a couple of ties against UMass-Lowell, while Notre Dame swept Arizona State. Next week the Irish play the Bulldogs in Duluth, which is the only time of the year I root against ND.

UMD is #2 now. Should be a great weekend in Duluth in two weeks: #1 North Dakota vs #2 Minnesota Duluth!

Always a good night when Notre Dame wins and the North Dakota loses. North Dakota is not very good it appears this year.

So, ND hockey's regular season has come to an end.

The good news is that ND finishes with a record of 19-10-5 and sits tied for 10th in the computer rankings.

The bad news is that a weekend split at BU prevented ND from claiming the regular-season Hockey East title. Looking back at the conference season, the loss to a bad UMass team stands out (one more conference win would have secured us the title).

The team is certainly capable of winning the Hockey East tournament, but it won't be easy. ND will play a best of 3 series at home the weekend after next- the winner in that series will advance to Boston for the finals. It would be nice to snag a title on the way out the door.

The Irish head to the TD Garden in Boston for the Hockey East tournament semifinals on Friday. They will play either UMass-Lowell or BU.

The team is also in a strong position for an at-large NCAA bid.

The Irish wrap up their Hockey East tenure with an overall conference record of 46-27-15. Among teams not located in Lowell, MA, the record was 44-18-13. UMass-Lowell has had our number since joining the league, and this showed again in the conference tournament semifinal, with the Irish falling 5-1. Overall, though, our performance in Hockey East was quite good, considering the quality of the teams in the league.

Today we learn where the Irish go for the NCAA tournament. The likely destination, apparently, is Manchester, NH, to play Minnesota and then the winner of Air Force and UMass-Lowell.

The Irish head to Manchester to play Minnesota, and then the winner of UMass-Lowell and Cornell. Getting to the Frozen Four will be a challenge, but this is a solid team...we'll see.

The team has come out like absolute garbage, just like in the Hockey East semifinal. The entire game has been in our end, essentially. The coaches need to be asked why the team comes out so lethargic in these games.

Irish fall behind 2-0.

Assuming we don’t come back, we will now be 0-4 in tournament games since 2011. The program is utterly stagnant. Not sure moving to the Big 10 will change that.
