Oh my aching ass!!!! I hope youre right! Michigan football running the spread offense? Maybe they will finally be able to stop the spread on defense after practicing agains the offense? Thats if Rodriguez is hired. Thats kindy scary.

I was about to say I would not look forward to seeing that. Then I remembered who their QB-in-waiting is ...

I say an NFL'r becomes the next head coach at UM. Marvin Lewis anyone? How about Russ Grimm? I've not heard his name, but he has a good rep, and was a HOG to boot. Actually, I really don't want him coaching there, he's too good for them. So take Lewis.

As great and historic job as Michigan is, why would Rodriguez leave a team with the backfield coming back that WV has? He's in a BCS conference and the grass isn't always greener, you know?

They are not too happy with him in WV after losing to Pitt and blowing the NC game. There have also been complaints about his ability to recruit.

Also, the Bama fans said they thought he was using this the way he used them to get a raise and facilities upgrades at WVU. He is from WV and graduated from WVU. I thought he was going to be a lifer.

On CFB Live they mentioned that when he resigned they promised him a quite a few upgrades with the facilities, but it's now looking like there might be a hang-up with them so that might be the reason behind his interest in UM if he were to end up leaving.

If you're looking for an NFLer, or an ex-NFLer, I would think that Bill Cowher would be at the top of your list.

He's angling for something just like last year. Whether it's more money or better facilities, my guess is that he is looking for a counter offer. If I were WVU, I'd let him walk. They already caved to his demands once, is this going to be an annual thing for him?

Of coarse Rich is looking to get more from WVU. With the way the brain trust of the sec is throwing money around I have a feeling will be seeing alot more of this in the near future.

Wait there is a brain trust in the SEC?

If RR is another Petrino then perhaps he would make the move. So far the reports are that scUM isn't offering all that much cash.... Could be prestige (ugh) or facilities though. Really though I would imagine there probably isn't enough incentive on both sides for this to happen. If Carr is really as involved as Mich people think, I highly doubt he will be ok with Rodriguez (tempermental, a bit mercurial in terms of whether he will stick around). Rodriguez has pretty much everything that he needs at the program he has, and is in a situation where he can thrive as a coach.

Les Miles
Brian Kelly
Jim Tedford
Jim Grobe
Greg Schiano
Kirk Ferentz
Brady Hoke
Rich Rodriguez?

I think that Universities are going to start wising up and making tougher contracts. I think we start seeing more:

HUGE buyout clauses

Noncompetition clauses preventing coaches from leaving for certain schools and conferences

Maybe even clauses that stipulate the coach won't interview anywhere else so long as there is a certain amount of time left on his contract.

The money these coaches are making has reached the point of absurdity.

Rodriguez gets permission to talk to Michigan.
SportingNews.com - Your expert source for NCAA Football stats, scores, standings, and blogs from NCAA Football columnists

When WVU played Notre Dame in soccer, the team got a tour of the weight room and other facilities. My son said that WVU's facilites were like the dark ages compared to other schools. That was a couple of years ago and they have made big improvements to the workout facilities. But I think the indoor facility field was too short and needed about 20 yards and some lockeroom upgrades were asked for. If WVU didn't come up with the upgrades promised, maybe Rod is making a point that he does still have options, big time options.

i also just remembered that Nick Saban was born in West Virginia and the govenor is his kid's godfather. If Rod leaves WVU I bet those Bama fans will hyperventilate. They were already worried he would start sniffing around Michigan:)

Its a done deal, Rodriguez is going to Michigan

Sunday Gazette-Mail - Breaking News

The irony I find in this is that Michigan (and some of the other BigTeleven schools) had major trouble stopping teams that run a spread-option type offense. Now, a big question will be whether Rodriguez intends to institute such an offensive scheme at Michigan. If he does so, it will be reflected in his recruiting starting in 2009.

I don't think he has the personnel to start it in 2008. In theory, the defense should be better able to stop the spread option with his knowledge of how it works. I guess we'll see.

Yeah, I wonder what Ryan Mallet thinks about it. Although this may help them keep McGuffie.

What Rich Rodriguez said December 9th 2006 after getting a raise and extending his contract at his alma mater through the 2014 season.
"I plan on being here a long time."
"There weren't many reasons not to go. It's all about the reasons for staying,"
"I'm biased, this is my school. I think it's a great place to raise a family. We've always had a great athletic tradition."
He said he and his wife, Rita, discussed the weighty decision Friday afternoon,
"Finally we said we're going to stay home at West Virginia."

Here's a sneak peek at what you might see in the future.

Rivals.com College Football - Pryor: Rodriguez leaving WVU for Michigan

Terrelle Pryor - Football Recruiting

If Pryor commits, the Pryor/Mcguffie backfield will most likely be the most explosive backfield in the country, far exceeding White/Slaton.

Mallet is a lot like Brohm. He'll be happy going back home to Arkansas.

Have your laughs now, haha.

LMAO ... yeah, Vanilla Ice is gonna bring it home for you guys!

Most explosive in the country, my ass ...

ESPN - Rodriguez leaving West Virginia to coach Michigan - College Football

"The players are upset because he said he's going to leave before the bowl game," James Dykes, the father of West Virginia defensive tackle Keilen Dykes told ESPN's Joe Schad. "At least coach them in the bowl game. James just called to tell us and I know he is very upset about this."

...

Carr plans to coach the Wolverines in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1 against No. 9 Florida.

So he's not going to coach WVU even though his new team is being coached by someone else? What a dick ...

LOL, you're honestly comming here to try to brag about UM's recruiting? ND killed UM this year. They beat UM up and down the country and Meet-chicken was left to pick up ND's left overs. If it's alright with you I think I'll just wait to laugh later when they're laying on the ground after our defense is done with them.

If pryor goes to UM, our guys are gonna take his head off. He'll be the headless horseman of UM, instead of not being able to cross the river, they wont make it past the goal line.

You're right, BUT........let's remember it's the results on the field that matter. Looking at the last two ND-UM matchups, if I'm a Michigan fan (I hate Michigan BTW), I'm simply replying, "Scoreboard".
