no, it rewards the two teams that had the best season....two teams playing each other proves nothing....
The "best" team doesn't always win, on top of that there are matchup issues etc etc etc...
College football takes the two teams with the best season and have them play each other, the winner can claim to have had the best season in college football...
There isn't a single BCS champion that didn't have the best overall season in college football, its pretty rare for the team with the best overall season to win in any of the other sports....
Personally I want to reward the team with the best ENTIRE SEASON, and not the one that got hot late
Again, you fail to address how we tell which 2 teams had the "best seasons". How do define that? As I pointed out above, there has been controversy as to which 2 teams had the "best seasons" in 5 of the last 7 years. With parity in sports and schedules that are SO different, it's nearly impossible to determine which teams had the entire best seasons. That's why every other sport invites numerous teams that appeared to have the best seasons to play in the post season and let them determine the champ that way.
Question: Would you be a proponent of implementing the bowl system to every other sport (or even any other sport)? Forget the NFL, MLB, and NBA playoffs. Let's just pick the 2 teams that looked like they had the best seasons and let one of them claim the title after they play each other. It's just hard for me to believe that every other sport has it wrong and Div 1 A football is the only sport that has it right.
Final Question: You say that you want to reward the team that had the best season. Isn't inviting that team to the playoffs and giving them an opportunity to win the NC reward enough?
