One, Why is everyone holding DJ responsible for Charlie's horrible game plan....we have no idea what this kid can actually do! He may be a good passer...if he is even decent he gives us the best chance of winning with our horrible OL!

Two, everyone saying JC is so good because he completed passes against the second team is nuts! Sharpley looked much better then Jimmy!

Three, we have to establish a running game before any of these guys are succescul...Thomas looked horrible btw!

Give DJ another chance with a real game plan!!!!

First of all DJ was given the chance to throw the ball a couple of times but chose to pull it down and run with it or he would wait to long and end up making a poor decision. If you would review the game you would easily see that. Secondly he was way to sloppy with the ball, hench the 2 fumbles. Clausen did play against some second stringers but he made wise decisions.

I don't think that Saturday necessarily made or broke anyone's chances at starting. Weis acknowledges his fault for putting the team in a poor position during the first half. Also, I believe you can only construe at best case-by-case observations from the games. Each quarterback played under different offensive and defensive playcalling scenarios so it's a bit of a stretch to qualitatively compare them to a full extent.

I can't say, though, that Sharpley 'looked' better than Clausen. Albeit against a less talented and aggressive pass rush, Clausen had a quick read and release as well as a decent knack for escaping the pocket. Again, Sharpley played against a much faster and aggressive defense but his mechanics weren't as polished as Clausen's seemed.

Also, it's my opinion that we need to establish a passing game before we can start running the ball with any success. Georgia Tech rolled up 8 or 9 guys knowing we would try to run it and the results were, not that anyone needs a reminding, dismal.

I think, if Clausen is announced the quarterback, it is a decision that has been a long time coming. It says quite a bit for a coach to name an athlete who isn't 100% in his top three leaving the odd man out to transfer.

If DD thinks at all that he has what it takes, he immediately should transfer. I dont think for a second that he'll start another game for the Irish at QB. Not only is he not the player we were told he was(i.e. the second coming of Tony Rice), he forces CW into bad game management to try to minimize his glaring deficiencies(throwing the ball). We just cant win ball games running the rock 95% of the time. I understand that you have to establish the run to be successful, but this game was absolutely a pain to watch. I was sitting there thinking, THROW THE FREAKING BALL!!
Sharpley, the same thing. If he fancies himself an NCAA QB, he probably needs to find a spot elsewhere, because it's probably not with this team. He proved why he was BQ's backup and never threatened the starter's role. He ran the team well when he had little pressure on him, but whenever anyone came close to him, he never even tried to get away. I saw a few times, he was so locked into one receiver, he didnt see a rusher coming on his open side. At least check to see where the pressure is while in the pocket. the last thing a dropback guy like him can do is not have any pocket awareness.
