I agree Jimmy had an awful game and is in a slump right now, I was not trying to make an excuse for him.

espn is reporting that JC didn't feel well during the game, this is a quote from CW.....
perhaps in hindsight, we should've started Evan Sharpley.

First off I am a huge Jimmy Clausen supporter!! Look Jimmy Clausen is no pope, so don't even start those comparison's. Unfortunately he had to have his worst game on Saturday, he is human, he is a quarterback and he is going to have bad games. People are going to give me crap about this, but Brady Quinn had bad games and in his sophomore year Quinn's record was 6-5. I do agree that Clausen has to look for other receivers and quit throwing in double or triple coverages. Then again, you have a lot of pressure when your wonderful 'tailback of trios' gives you 66 yards rushing.

I wonder how we would have viewed Joe Montana if they had bulletin boards back then?

He finished his CAREER with exactly the same number of TD's as INT's. And he didn't achieve that stellar record until his final game. And that was with a decent OL. I guess he sucked too.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I believe Montana actually led the team to some meaningful victories.

And while I can't speak for others who are disappointed in Clausen...my criticisms aren't about his stats. If you just watch him play there are several things that would make one cautious about being too optimistic. Perhaps he will develop into a great QB, perhaps not. But there are some pretty troubling things to be seen when you watch his play instead of his stat line.

Did he do this as a sophomore? If I'm remembering correctly, he started just 3 games as a freshman, and was pretty awful (and lost to SC). He was hurt his entire sophomore yearso he got a chance to sit and learn. Give the kid a chance...

And they are all things that can be corrected and i'm confident will be corrected. Some of you guys are ruthless with your criticisms of this kid. He has played a game and a half of bad football (BC game and 1st half of MSU). Take those 6 quarters out and he is an 18 TD 7 INT QB. He still has no running game and his line is still horrible. The whole program has been put on his back and with the lack of blocking or a running game that is way too much to ask especially for a true sophomore. When teams can rush 3 DL and drop 8 back into coverage your generally going to struggle no matter how damn good you are. Clausen along with Tate and Floyd should be the least of our worries offensively. If there was a line and a running game to support the passing attack those 3 provide our offense would be unstoppable and the INTs would drop dramatically.

Brady Quinn, sophomore year, 2004 - 17 TDs, 10 interceptions, 54.1% completions, 125.8 passer rating

Besides the 18-13, Clausen's other stats - 59.1%, 127.47 rating
