Locker, UNC defense highlight top 32 prospects for 2011 - NFL - CBSSports.com Football

Kyle Rudolph is #20 overall (top TE)
Michael Floyd is #23 overall (#2 WR behind AJ Green and ahead of Julio Jones)

Glad we don't play North Carolina this year. They have 4 potential first round picks for next year...all on the defensive side of the ball (and another defensive player on the honorable mention list)

ND 2010 Opponents on the list:
Andrew Luck - Stanford: #9 overall (#3 QB behind Locker and Mallett)
Anthony Castanzo - Boston College: #6 overall (#1 OT)
Greg Romeus - Pittsburgh: #29 overall (#5 DE)
Jonathan Baldwin - Pittsburgh: Honorable Mention WR
Kris O' Dowd - USC: Honorable Mention C
Greg Jones - Michigan State: Honorable Mention LB
Jurrell Casey - USC: Honorable Mention DT

Some quick thoughts:

* Awesome for Rudolph. Kid is such a stud and even better a GREAT kid and a great student. Can't wait to see him play this year. Hopefully the collective bargaining agreement (or lackthereof) will keep him around one more year.

* Floyd, if he stays healthy, will an unreal year, and stay at that 2 spot or perhaps even move up. But both Green and Jones are great as well.

* Sorry, no way should luck be up there as the 9th best player in college football. No way. And believe me, I think the kid is a stud, but there are better players out there. And with his star RB and many linemen gone, I'd like to see him do it without those guys for a year before annointing him. Kid's very good, but rated way too high at this point. Barkley IMO has more upside.

* I'm surprised they put Jurrell Casey as an HM. They did their homework. Under Ed O's tutelage, SC expects big things from him this year. Not a household name (yet).

* Kris O'Dowd - Stud, but can't stay healthy. Bad knees, and that's not good for a man who plays his position.

Thanks for the list!

McShay is putting Luck as his #1 for next year in the newest Mocks for 2011.

Kiper has Luck #2 on his QB list today on Sportcenter (agree with LA, Luck has great upside but has only started 1 year) On a side note, Kiper also has Brian Smith as his #4 LB (was only counting seniors on the site)

Kiper also ranted about the North Carolina D.... apparently these guys are all returning and should reek havoc. I'm just glad that we're not playing them also...
