The title says it all.
Ranks right up there with the greatest sporting events I've ever seen.
That was the first day of basketball practice. We watched the game together in the film room after practice. That was Homer's first year at Valpo after coming over from Bethel and our roster was all Indiana/Chicagoland guys who grew up ND football fans. Homer was a huge fan of Lou's inspirational quotes
Speaking of ND and hoops... Two months and two days later Digger and the boys paid us a visit and went home with an L. Two weeks and 2 days after that, ND beat WVU here in Arizona for the NC.
Didn't remember this but it was also the same day as Kirk Gibson's iconic HR.
That was a great year in sports... except Michigan somehow won the NC in hoops over a LOADED field.
