Case for being ranked

I agree with the argument about our record when being ranked vs ours when we aren't. I also agree its best to keep a chip on this teams shoulder, they respond alot better. But we can't go from unranked to BCS game in a week. If everyone is still desiring a BCS game and a 10-2 record, the ranking has to start sometime. I say we deserve a 23-25. We are alot better than our record, but we have a long way to go to be elite.

A 10-2 ND will never be left out of the BCS.

I know it seems it's getting late, but conference play just started. A lot of the ranked teams will beat up on each other from here on out and losses will pile up.

Thats my worry.

Oklahoma State will probably lose to only Oklahoma
Bama vs lsu- one of them will have a loss
Michigan will probably only lose 1 game this season
WVU may not lose again
SF may finsih with 2 losses
...etc

There is going to be a lot of teams with 2 losses clogging up the polls, by seasons end and I don't like having our season hang on the hopes of another team not losing until we play them. If Stanford loses to Oregon, and is top 12 when we play them, and ND beats them...that still is a good win.

This may be the season a 10-2 ND team gets left out of the BCS because they did not have enough time in the polls to climb far enough.

I tihnk the points moot, because I am willing to believe ND will be ranked 25/24 today, I am sure there is some heavy hitter from NBC pushing for ND/SC to be ranked for the prime time match up in 2 weeks

Honestly, I think ND should have been ranked after dismembering state.

I think ND will be ranked this week. That win against Pitt was very ugly but It shouldn't overshadow ND beating up on state.

We should NOT be ranked yet. I am happy and satisfied we are receiving votes but Notre Dame victory that stands out is against MSU. All the other wins are against PITT, Purdue, and Air Force. Let's focus on Mustard and Ketchup right now. If Notre Dame wins that prime time game, we'll get back onto the rankings for sure. I also heard from a good source Notre Dame is going ALL out for the USC game, possibly giving out game towels and noise makers! Let's get LOUD and get the home field advantage back to Notre Dame!

We are not ranked for reason our best win is a team that best win was a Ohio state victory they one by three points over the worst ohio state I have seen in some time . Also it's very possible mich st. loses next three games. I still happy we are winning we just beating teams we should beat nothing special.

I don't think we should be ranked unless we beat USC. We gave up 33 points to Air Force, that's not something to be proud of.

Why? Yes we gave up 33 but how many did we give up before the 4th? They have a stellar offense and run it damn well. I was ok with 33. We had 59. Some on here picked AF as a loss. I did as well.

Im saying our best win this season is over A michigan st. team. They have one big named win over Ohio st. 10-7 . i wouldnt be surprised if Mich st. goes 0-3 and next three games so lets not get to excited to we play someone who we know is good .

IIRC, the Irish are automatic qualifiers if in the top 8.

For at large eligibility they just need to have 9 wins and be top 14 in the BCS standings.

Ok, good! I thought there was a secondary level of qualification. Still think we have to win out to make it. A close loss to Stanford might make it but I think if we lose there we'll be punished in the polls.

This ND team just gave up 560+ yards to Air Force. I don't think we should be all that worried about a BCS bowl, just yet.

???????????? are you serious? The game was over at the start of the 4th quarter and if I remember right we were up 49-19 the other was garbage points givin up to 3rd string d players which is understandable!

At that point, we will finish top.

Until then, I'm not looking.

Maybe 15ish at 9-3.

Round it out at 8-4 lucky with a 25 slot.

Nailed it. I thought it was suspicious how high Texas got and how high Michigan is getting...

I also suspect Michigan St will beat Michigan. that or MSU will be out.

Either Baylor or aTm will also fall out.

Auburn could fall out if Florida wins and even if Auburn wins that'll drop Florida behind us. They are currently ahead of us.

Illinois has OSU and Illinois are terrible so they could be out of the rankings.

Washington, another team ahead of us but not ranked has Stanford, so that'll be another team out of our way.

In other words, A LOT of teams should get moved out of our way while we stand still. Could very well be ranked next week...
