ill take a shot at it. im sorry if this goes to the heart but atleast you can argue this. Angles are gonna get last place( i really think not but for sake of arguement)
Blame the dems for them ignoring the problem?? Some people need to wake up and check out the hole in the ground in NYC. In addition to the embassy bombings, we were hit at the WTC years before too. Of course, we ignored it then as well....
I don't know what to think anymore. I do think that since we are in Iraq we can't just up and leave because then every young man and woman who died has died in vain. I just wish someone either Democrat or Republican would come along and have as their number one priority the people of the United States. Both sides play the political game to the hilt and do not care about us at all.
Tell us...what will success look like? How can we know it's time to leave?
No one, including the President seems to know that.
So how long should we stay?
I am NOT making the case for leaving NOW...I am ASKING you to please tell me what the criteria for SUCCESS is.
So far, NOT ONE PERSON on this board has ever attempted to answer this question. They either say "there can be no victory" or "we can't leave before we've won."
But to date, no one can begin to tell me how we know "we've won."
Actually, it was not ignored. Entire Battlegroups were moved to be able to fire tomahawk missiles into other countries. Men were deployed. Dozens of terrorists were killed.
However, not enough was done...could the WTC plot been foiled? Unlikely...
I think victory is defined as the Iraqi gov't being able to support and defend itself. We haven't made enough progress in that regard. That doesn't mean we can't make progress.Agreed. It really is that simple. They need to be stable and provide their own security, with a few of us around in kurdland as a safety blanket. Besides, it is not OUR job to define success, it is the presidents, he just needs to articulate that to the American people. We have two choices - Stay, fight and win or leave. The first allows us to have an ally in the Middle East. The second allows terrorists to rule another country. We are making progress now. Recruitment of sunnis to the army and police has increased dramatically. This tells us that the tide is turning, and that many are willing to join the fight, not be the enemy.
Correct. Again, it is that simple. Iran is itching to expand its empire.
We ignored the fact that they declared war on us. A war is not fought with a few missile strikes and bombs. Nor is it fought acting as if it is a criminal matter, with no sharing of info between the FBI/CIA/DIA. To this day, some people are unwilling to call it a war on terror. What the F>>K is wrong with people?????????

No, but I did stay at a holiday Inn Express last nite.
I don't think the US has done enough to get Osama. But, a big part of that rests with Pakistan's situation between Musharrif and his countrymen. If we had carte blanche to go in, and the FULL support of Pakistan, he would be dead by now. I do believe that the tide is turning slowly in Iraq, we just need more time. The next 18 months will be very telling, if we don't like what we see then, I would suggest doing what the dems are suggesting now. To be continued...

True, I just wish we could debate honestly, without making everything about '08. I'm telling you, term limits are the answer.
