If he is retained - I will support him... If he's let go I will support the new guy... I'd have a hard time supporting Harbaugh... just see it as a big mistake. Too many guys that wax poetically about him (for God knows what reason) and when they do so I get the feeling that lotion is nearby.

I think he should really have an evaluation and not just a token sit down and get canned, but why are you so definite that he should stay on every post? Is it just a schtick or are you serious?

his evaluation is clear, and fair:

3-9
7-6
7-6 (optimistically), possibly 6-7

he is paid win games. he didnt. evaluation complete.

why do i somehow think that if Ron Powlus had enjoyed a decent NFL career, coached very successfully at a small time school, took over an abysmal 1-11, talentless, uncompetitive Stanford team, and in only 3 years showed himself to be an excellent recruiter (2 consecutive top 15 recruiting classes at a school w/ very high admissions standards) and had his team beating ranked teams and playing hard every week for 60 minutes in by far the toughest conference in the country....

....every ND fan would be slobbering all over themselves for him to be the next coach.

you could say otherwise, but i would call BS.

if people dont want him because he is a "Michigan" guy, i can understand that. just admit it.

Nope.... Not even Montana... I want a "Made" guy... not an experiment. San Diego is Moeller High. Stanford... look what Ty did. If he went 11 - 1 next year... I'd be impressed. He hasn't... Has nothing to do with his Michigan affiliation. He was a shitty QB there... ND beat him because he forcasted his passes. He wasn't any good in the pros except that one year in Indi when he caught teams aff guard and ALMOST did something there. He's had a career of almosts... He almost had a great season this year.

What if he goes 8 - 5? That knocks Harbaugh out of the picture...

it took harbaugh 3 years to take a talentless 1-11 team to that type of record playing a much tougher schedule at a school where it is, by anyones measure, tougher to recruit top football talent than it is at notre dame. there is a clear improvement going on.

it took weis 5 years to get to the point he is and the cupboard was much fuller and he is recruiting at a place where he should be bringing in much more talent than stanford.

comparing an orange to an apple, and the apple is rotten and about to fall off the tree.

I don't get the crush on Harbaugh either. I think it has to do with him beating USC. I don't think Stanford is that good. It wouldn't shock me to see ND beat them. Although the Admin should talk to him, I'm not hot on him. He's also another guy who likes to run off at the mouth a bit. Can we get behind someone who talks through actions instead of words, please?

ONE MORE YEAR... Let's see what he can do with a full recruiting cycle, his first class wasn't really his class, let him finish this with his players

Ok, I'm Making the thread, i dont give a rats ass what others think.

Charlie has worked his tail off for this university. Got us to 2 BCS bowls. 3 heisman hopefuls. tons of other awards, broke the bc streak, broke the bowl losing streak. he even broke his damn knees and stood the rest of the game on crutches!!

The players love him, the admin loves him, former greats love him(tim brown, Tony Rice, Lou holtz etc.)

I am just as disappointed as you guys are with this years record, but let Charlie, Jimmy, and Tate have there swan song in 2010!!!!!

GO IRISH!!!

and remember it could be worse.....we could be michigan fans!!!

No no no no no..........we gave charlie his last chance..........remember last year......... we were supposed to go 11-1 or 10-2 not 6-5( eventually 6-6)................its time to let him go

you are making yourself look silly. anyone in the know admits the Pac 10 is loaded with good teams this year.

they are, in fact, ranked as the top conference

USATODAY.com

sagarin rankings:

Oregon #6
USC #14
Oregon St #16
Stanford #19
Cal #20
AZ #22
UCLA #37

And Harbaugh went 2 -3 on that above list.

Has nothing to do with his Michigan affiliation. He was a shitty QB there... ND beat him because he forcasted his passes. .

it is AMAZING that ND beat Michigan because he forecasted his passes since he never lost to notre dame. here is what happened while Harbaugh was at Michigan vs ND:

1983-THEY DIDNT PLAY EACH OTHER
1984-THEY DIDNT PLAY EACH OTHER

1985- MICHIGAN 20
ND 12

1986-MICHIGAN 24
ND 23

he was obviously not a hall of fame qb in the pros, but lasted quite a while, had some strong years, and passed for over 26,000 yards. that experience is probably a good asset for a guy showing an actual aptitude toward coaching.

your bias against him is glaring when you say he was a shitty QB at Michigan

-1985- led the nation in passing efficiency, led MICH to 10-1-1 record and #2 ranking
-1986- 3rd in Heisman balloting, big ten player of the year, and All American team.

so, really? he was a shitty QB at Michigan?

like i said, i call BS

I've always been a CW supporter, and I wouldn't mind another year, if there are some changes made, Tenuta and our strenght coach have earned nothing but a pink slip. Mainly because I don't think the right coach for us is available now.

I just remember Harbaugh throwing Int's against ND. Maybe my memory is suspect... Harbaughs not even a consideration... we need to change the subject.

actually, 3-3 against that list.

pretty good considering the list and where Stanford was 3 years ago.

chances are, ND goes 0-7 against that list under Weis.
