I think my preference is Iowa. But again, be careful what you wish for.

I do not think that the CFP committee decide on the non-playoff bowl pairings. I think that they only determine the rankings to get the first 4 teams, and then it is the actual bowl committees that decide on the teams in their bowl games

The last point is true though...money trumps pretty much anything else.

NO. The selection Committee Pairs the Playoff and NY6 matchups. How can anyone be a "fan" and not know this? Although, The Rose, Orange and Sugar are "contract" Bowls. In non Playoff years, Those bowls have contracts. Orange, ACC champ or 2nd place team (if champ is in the playoff vs Highest ranked between ND, B1G and the SEC. Rose is B1G champ vs PAC 12 champ, If in playoff the ROSE BOWL COMMITTEE picks THOSE teams. Sugar is SEC champ vs B12 champ, If in playoff, bids go to highest ranked teams left in those conferences. The Cotton, Peach and Fiesta in NON PLAYOFF YEARS are paired by the Selection Committee. Here's more on the Rose Bowl selection process. B1G champ loser is NOT a guarantee because shiny, traditional and 11-1 Ohio State is an option..Would a 12-1 Iowa be a slam dunk for Rose Bowl? Definitely not

It was my understanding that if a conference champion was in the CFP, the Rose Bowl picked the 'next best team' from the Pac12 and Big Ten, not necessarily the loser of the conference championship game. If Iowa lose to Sparty, they may well fall behind OSU.

If the Sugar Bowl also uses 'next best team', that certainly wouldn't apply to Florida, given they would then be a 3 loss team.

Then again, maybe it is the runner-up from the conference championship games.

It used to be "next best team" from any conference. I would bet it is still that way. The Bowl is only obligated to take the conference champs, I am betting.

How dumb are the bowl tie ins? Those need to be eliminated. The NY6 bowls should go to teams 5-17 in some order. Why does a Big10 and pac10 team get to play in the rose bowl every single year? What is this 1930?

FSU first for me, then Iowa.
Houston is a lose/lose situation IMO. Beat them and "meh". Lose to them and you get beat by a non-P5 team...

I agree.

Would love ND to play in the Rose Bowl.

The Top 10 teams will get bids. the only outliers this years COULD be Ole Miss for Sugar, USC Rose and TCU for Sugar. Its a good change from the BCS era cuz there was an 2 team limit for conferences to play in the BCS games.

Someone should inform the Rose Bowl committee then, that the CFP committee is the organization that selects the NY6 matchups. From the Rose Bowl's own website:

| Tournament of Roses

The 102nd Rose Bowl Game will be held on January 1, 2016 at the Rose Bowl Stadium. The game will feature the champion of the Pac-12 and Big Ten Conference. If the Conference champion is selected to participate in the College Football Playoff Semifinal, the Rose Bowl Game will select the next best team in the conference. The Rose Bowl Game will host a College Football Playoff Semifinal in 2018.

This is soooooo much better than the BCS.
I still want an 8 team playoff, but I'll take what we have over the BCS any day.

Well, There is actual quotes by the Rose Bowl Comm chair that says otherwise.

Interesting, never seen a quote from the Rose Committee about the CFP choosing the teams for the Rose Bowl. Can you post a link so that I can see the statement?

The Pac 12 champ Stanford or USC vs Michigan State, Iowa or Ohio State. If OSU wasn't 11-1 and currently ranked #8, likely 6th on Tue then it wouldn't be an issue but they are.

Maybe I missed this explanation earlier but if the projection is for us to face Florida state, why would they get the nod over North Carolina to face us if they were to lose to Clemson in the ACC champ?

Russell athletic bowl has a contract for the number 2 ACC team, but the bigger reason is money...

I think you all are crazy if you want to play an Ohio State team that would have a month to gameplan and would actually get excited to play Notre Dame.

Only good thing about playing urban is that we would be expected to lose so there would be zero pressure on us similar to playing lsu last year

Why their offense is one dimensional, they can't throw the ball at all which is perfect for our defense.... Not scared of Osu in the least, they aren't the same team they were last year and I expect ND would have a great shot at winning and would be a very competitive game

ND checked in at 9th in AP poll. If that's similar to CFP we'll be locked in to NY6. I'm slightly worried that we'll get left out because placement is worth a lot of $$ to conferences, but it's hard to see us being 12th or lower.
