What do we gain in the media's eyes by winning a Bowl game against Hawaii? If we blow them out then we "blew out a horrible team". If we squeak it out "we should have crushed Hawaii". If we get beat then we were a bust and should not have accepted the Bowl invitation. I just wonder if anyone else see's this happening in the media? Believe me I would love to see a blow out. I get soooo tired of all the bashing of N.D. but hey atleast they are talking about us is one way to look at it ....

Of course they'll put a negative spin on it; thats what the media always does to us: Except Lou, who will say its the single greatest bowl performance in the history of Bowl games...

The best that can happen is solid 21 point win. Thats not a huge blowout, but its a solid win, and breaks the streak. Thats the best we can hope for. Then we can get on to next year.

All I know is that after we get the win the media will have to shut their mouth about the streak.

After we got slammed by the likes of Syracuse...Syracuse???...how can you guys be talking us blowing out anybody, much less that perennial powerhouse, Hawaii? We ought to be embarrased about having accepted any bowl bid. This decision was only about one thing: money. I never root against us, but I hope we lose this one....just too humiliating to be playing at all. The media, is not biased against us - the reverse is, in fact, the case. They report accurately that we are mediocre at best....and we scream bias. Get real. We gotta either de-emphasize or change our aproach, beginning with dumping the hapless Charlie.

A "W" is all we need at the end of the fourth. If it's by 1 point or 40...

If we win small or big the media is always going to try to make ND look like a bad episode of "The Hills"

The game is a no win in the media eyes. At the state the program is in now, you basically have to say to hell with the media. More importantly is what a win will do for the psyche of the team. Hopefully it ends this season on a positive note and give a boost to next year. Plus, when we go to a BCS bowl game next year the game will not take on the added pressure of ending the Bowl losing streak and they can concentrate on winning that game.

I'd say the first bowl win in 14 years, much like Ron Burgundy, is
kind of a big deal.

I took a lot of shit on here, most of it well deserved, which is fine, when I spoke my mind and said I am a coach. I was asked about my experience so now I will share some. I have a former player in this game. The Hawaii kicker, Danny Kelly, was my kicker at Linfield HS in CA, I was his english teacher as well. He is a good kid with a strong leg. They have had some strange problems with XP over the years, but he does have a deep leg. I have rooted for UH since he got there as a freshman and kicked off to Reggie Bush in week one as a freshman. He has been the kicker every year. This is his last game.

The only other former player in D-I right now is WR Dane Sanzenbacher of the Buckeyes. I was his receiver coach in Ohio at Toledo Central Catholic his junior and senior years. ROOT for this kid against Texas. He is tough as nails, gets open, and pays the price for it week after week. He is their #2 receiver in receptions this year, and was on ESPN's big hit reels week after week for putting his body on the line routinely. He really wanted to go to ND and was on the Ted Ginn Sr. bus tour that bounced around the midwest. He was a late addition to that recruiting tour and made the most of it. He told he how bummed he was that Nd didn't give him the time of day, but was appreciative that Tressel picked him up. Texas/OSU is going to be a tough matchup, but root for #12.

We've deserved every negative comment we received from the media this year. We're a very mediocre team, and should be better at this point. I guess the first 6 games got me fired-up and I expected more the last 5.

I solid win in Hawaii will get the proverbial monkey off our back, and get us going in the right direction next year.

I don't think margin of victory will be what determines opinions. For me, it will be how we look on the field. I don't think we gain anything if we look bad, but manage to squeak out a victory. On the other hand, if we look solid, run the ball (I hope), limit mistakes, and control the game, it won't matter what the final score will be. We need to dominate every facet of this game and end the season with our heads held high.

have already thought about that and I don't agree... Mark May and Co. will downplay this for real and it will be a "You call a BOWL WIN beating Hawaii???... try actually playing someone who actually plays football, In my mind this doesn't count." Of course they will competely ignore that most big teams win the BS bowls they get into every few years and that keeps THEM from going into a bowl tail spin.... AND when USC plays Hawwaii "They play anyone,anywhere... the gods of cfb!!" Whereas if we get them in a bowl game it's a true damnedif you do damned if you don't situation...

whatever, we all def. agree on this, winning and hearing BS is better than losing and hearing BS...
