Dan Shaughnessy a columnist for The Boston Globe wrote this article below.

"He's got the winning percentage (.583) that got Willingham fired."

"He has the same record (35-25) that got Davie fired."

It makes a lot of since on why people want Charlie fired, but it also makes a lot of since on why he should stay. We've done this before and no good has come of it!!!!

2nd time in 2 days I've heard Charlies 1st season could be attributed to Ty's recruits. As if to say he had better recruits. Are these people smoking crack?

"He has the same record (35-25) that got Davie fired."

And Shaughnessey's point is? What does this mean, exactly? It means nothing more than that the two numbers are identical.

A great example of why Willingham was let go: His insistence on trying to turn Carlyle Holiday into a drop back pocket passer. Really? My nephews were 5, and couldn't understand why ND didn't just let Holiday run the ball.

The Davie comparison is unfair, because Davie followed an ND legend. Holtz had the team competing for a NC, almost every year. It's a natural human reaction, for people to be disgusted by that kind of record, following Holtz's tenure.

I don't think any of this is reason enough to save Charlie's job. I think his position is pretty much untenable, right now. But let's be honest about his performance. He may not have soared to the lofty heights obtained by Leahy, Parseghian, and Holtz. But the program is in much better shape than it was, at the same point, under either Davie or Willingham.

That's an understatement!

But its true, after Willinghams recruits left the program has been 16-19.

Nobody has the disdain for Willingham as I do but after his classes left it has been a disaster.

I think had Ty stayed we wouldve had a Washington type year because he was that terrible and no prospects coming in but Weis is mediocre with the same kids Florida and USC has battled him over.

I have read on ESPN Blog's, & other teams message boards, and they all say the same thing keep CW, so their teams can keep beating us...... I just think when we get another New Head coach we need one with College Football experience.........

Couldn't we be saying this about a new coach who has (2) good seasons with CW's recruits?

So your point is that Ty would of had Washington type season, but Charlie won't because he is better than our last two coaches, but you still want to fire him. I don't get it.

maybe its that the kids charlie inherited had been taught by ty how to do the fundamentals. tackle, block and play hard. charlie obviously has better talent but what good is better talent if they dont know how to block and tackle?

As for the Defense, I agree, maybe Ty was more of a line or defensive coach, but his players definitly didn't play as hard as CW's boys!

That guy should be fired for writing that crap. Ty willingham is the WORST RECRUITER in history. Both in Washington and here, his classes were historically low. Unreal that people can get away with sewing whatever they want if is about ND. It is an anti-catholic bias from a liberal media, I swear it is part of it.

Crazy situation. Charlie did so well because the Kids could tackle & remained disciplined in their lanes & such. Along with the offensive scheme he brought the players could see they were in a better position to succeed. They were pumped & they played out of their minds particularly in the SC game. Charlie is a Strategy guy he doesn't need to be a fundamentels guy - That's what assistance are for. I'm going to say it on every post unti Swarbrick reads it and says "this guy is on to something" The only way you fire Weis is if your getting Harbaugh. Harbaugh is going to set college football on fire. Believe it.
