If Notre Dame can get into the BCS at 10-2 with blowout losses to their biggest rivals (2006), they sure as hell can get into one with close losses to their biggest rivals.
Alabama is the only team I see going undefeated by bowl season.
This is a truly excellent point by an obviously intelligent poster. Thank you CTF. This is what I have been telling all the haters around me - I was AT the '06 Michigan game, had the opportunity to sit in the gold seats, right behing Henne and co. (Damn Henne! Damn Dolphins!) and was devastated to see us get our doors blown off - then held out hope up until USC, where we again got a beat down. And yet, just a short time later, there we were, being invited to the Sugar Bowl against LSU. Now, before people start with the whole, "Yeah, and look how LSU manhandled you guys that year..blah, blah, blah...Jamarcus Russell (sucks!) blah, blah, blah...." let's face it - THIS year's Irish squad is a better team than the '06 one was, and I truly believe we can hang with any of the big wigs, so a BCS is certainly possible.
But everything depends on the next 6 games. Lose any of them, and we're rightfully out of the discussion - best we can hope for is the Gator bowl (which is no slouch of a game). But win out, and that will require some impressive wins (including 2 road games against good teams - Pitt and Stanford) and I believe we are very much in the discussion for the BCS.
