Well with a Heart Breaking loss to the Condoms, what happens this week? I really hope this does not effect Jimmy and the offense. This kind of loss could send us down the drain. I really really hope it makes them stronger ! I can't even comment on the defense. We can't come out slow and play catch up again !

Boston College is coming in like a high speed train after crushing NC State. We're coming into the game like a slightly demoralized squad unsure whether we are actually good or not after not catching the big one.

A win over BC would be amazing following a loss like this.

BC is so hard to read, They play great at home but have been absolutely manhandled by two teams on the road,VT and an up and down Clemson team. If we can pick ourselves up and beat BC then we should beat WSU it sets us up nice the rest of the way. If we are getting Floyd back the last 4 games those 4 should be locks.

I think we come out firing to prove to the country that today wasn't a fluke. Clausen goes apeshit on their secondary.

this BC game scares me to death. If they rebound and win convincingly, we could run the table. If we win and struggle, the rest of the year is up for grabs. If they lose......well, you know......it'll be over.

I can't believe we've lost the last 6 to BC. At least the Mich State streak is over. Time to end the BC streak.

how low has this program gotten-we are hoping for a win against BC?

Right now, BC is a much better football program and if they had our initials and could travel to bowl games, they would have played in far more meaningful bowl games.

How do you come to that conclusion?

agree we win but it depedns on how this team reacts. If they can recover and decide that someone has to pay for today than BC picked the wrong team to mess with.

If we win, 10-2 and BCS. If we lose....could be 2004 with late collapse and everyone calling for the coach to be fired.

You CAN'T be serious with this comment, I mean come on now? We have a depth chart on offense that features three potential Heismann trophy winners, a multitude of players who we'll see on Sundays in the coming years, no shortage of forthcoming All Americans, and several guys who will/have shattered ND record books! This comment is absurd. Yes, I know they've beaten us the past 6 times, shame on us. That stops on Saturday. We are the more talented and deeper squad now - the "streak" ends Saturday, and we begin a little streak of our own. Go Irish!

ND is a perfect example that all the talent in the world doesn't produce wins and good football programs. The facts simply speak for themselves, BC has had a better program over the last several years. This is not disputable. The program is taking on a FSU character, loads of talent and nothing to show for it.

I think it is highly disputable. You have given nothing to back it up, and do you want to know why? B/c you cant.

There will be no BCS at 10-2 you can print that and save it for BCS selection day. The voters arent dumb, they know ND has lost both rivalry games and that the rest of the schedule is nothing that blows your doors off.

If we win out the most impressive win is likely @Pitt who will at minimum have 3 losses if we beat them they still have @ WV and Cincinatti.

Thats not earning a BCS game.

Then what do you say to the several people who are paid to cover football who say we could get to a BCS game at 10-2. I understand this is your opinion, but state it as such. Its not ironclad just because you say so.

If Notre Dame can get into the BCS at 10-2 with blowout losses to their biggest rivals (2006), they sure as hell can get into one with close losses to their biggest rivals.

Alabama is the only team I see going undefeated by bowl season.

Agree, 2 plays away froma BCS title game. With that said thsi is another streak that need sot be broken and with extreme prejudice. Our team needs to come out and show our superioity against a weaker team. these are the games that if CW doesn't win will get him fired. He can be forgiven for a near miss agaisnt a top 5 Trojan team but not a so-so BC team. This will not hold water. We will win this week and CW should rub it in.

...

That is an interesting comment. Despite the axe grinders whines, ND is a bad call and 4 yds from being undefeated - without padding the resume with Division AA wins.

Assuming ND does its part and runs the table, the 25 Teams ahead in the polls still have to stumble a lot. They have 6 or 7 weeks to do so but teams like Boise don't have more than speed bumps in front of them. They'll be a 2-3 TD favorite or more over the rest of their schedule.

Lots of football left to play.

Don't wanna be the one to burst the bubble here for ya, but this is where Pre-Season rankings help your team. In 2006 ND was ranked 2nd in the nation, those two losses hurt but they never crippled us ranking wise.

This is a truly excellent point by an obviously intelligent poster. Thank you CTF. This is what I have been telling all the haters around me - I was AT the '06 Michigan game, had the opportunity to sit in the gold seats, right behing Henne and co. (Damn Henne! Damn Dolphins!) and was devastated to see us get our doors blown off - then held out hope up until USC, where we again got a beat down. And yet, just a short time later, there we were, being invited to the Sugar Bowl against LSU. Now, before people start with the whole, "Yeah, and look how LSU manhandled you guys that year..blah, blah, blah...Jamarcus Russell (sucks!) blah, blah, blah...." let's face it - THIS year's Irish squad is a better team than the '06 one was, and I truly believe we can hang with any of the big wigs, so a BCS is certainly possible.

But everything depends on the next 6 games. Lose any of them, and we're rightfully out of the discussion - best we can hope for is the Gator bowl (which is no slouch of a game). But win out, and that will require some impressive wins (including 2 road games against good teams - Pitt and Stanford) and I believe we are very much in the discussion for the BCS.
