I am not quite understanding the new projected BCS polls... I know the BCS is a bunch of crap, but I just don't get how Boise State is the projected number one team? First off, they are a very good team, I get that, but the fact of the mater is they play three decent teams this year! There is something that has to be said for a team like Alabama or Ohio State that have to play 100% at least nine weeks out of the year in order to be undefeated. I doubt Wyoming or Idaho is going to step up to the plate and beat a number one team...EVER! Wait, maybe New Mexico State will one day....yeah, I think not! Boise State only has to play their absolute best three weeks out of the year. The rest of their schedule is compiled of all meatball teams and they can mail a win in.

What scares me is Notre Dame scheduling down to fit into this type of system. Tulsa, Western, Army are all teams that ND can smoke, even this year. They are very weak opponents even in their conferences. Notre Dame's schedule used to be feared around the nation because they had one of the toughest schedules. Now all a tough schedule does is a disservice to you and your players. One loss and you just waived most of your chances to complete for the BCS Championship.

Another thought...Are the coaches voting the likes of Boise State into top positions so they can discredit the BCS system and get a play-off system in place? If Boise State wins the BCS championship, I think it will be a complete failure.

Boise State

I think Boise State has out grown it's conference. I would have like to see Boise State join the Pac 10 instead of Colorado. That is where they recruit. It would have been a better fit. Colorado will go from being a lower level Big 12 team to a lower level Pac 10 team. The knock on Boise State is their schedule. They can play with anyone. I think they would be a great fit in the Big 12 or the Pac 10. The ship sailed on the Pac 10. That was the best fit. If BYU and SSU were to join the Big 12, it would help geographically. Let's face it, the bottom line is money. The travel costs for the minor sports is stopping this.
Boise can play with anyone. I don't know how they do it, but they do.

Eh, I think this reflects the fact that so far Boise has played as competitive a schedule as anyone else who is still undefeated. Now if the Michigan States and the LSUs and the Oregons of the world finish undefeated, look for Boise to be left out in the cold, again. But seriously, I don't see how the BCS is a failure if a team that blows out mid/low-level competition and consistently wins versus top level competition wins the national championship. Boise St. over the last 4 years has been one of the best coached and most consistent teams that I've ever seen (I'm 24).

If two of either Ohio State, Oregon, Nebraska, or Oklahoma run the table then the non AQ schools (Boise State, TCU, Utah) stand virtually no chance in reaching the National Championship. For fans of those three schools its a difficult pill to swallow year after year but its a product of their schedule. Right now Boise States best friends are VT and Nevada. If VT can continue to rebound from the James Madison loss and win the ACC, that will go a long way for Boise State. However, it is very likely that the Big 12 will turn out one undefeated team. The winner of the Big 12 championship will be right there to pick up the pieces if either Oregon or Ohio State slip up along the way.
IMO, until college football turns its back from the money and abandons the BCS format for a playoff, we will run into situations like this every year.

The exact reason why I hope for a playoff. Won't happen but I still hope. I understand a weak schedule and all but over a few years of perfect ball has to say something. Yet, with computers in play it won't. I am by no means a Boise fan but I cant shy away from the fact that they have proven themselves year over year. Are they the best team in the country? NO! Do I have a solid ground to stand on when saying that? NO! College football as a whole (I suppose you could say) agree that they don't deserve a shot because of their scheduling so I say playoff! Make a team like that play a OU, Oregon, and Nebraska on the way to a championship.

HERE'S TO BEER!!! AND AMAZING DRUNK THOUGHTS BECAUSE THATS ALL THIS DISCUSSION EVER GETS PUT IN PLACE AS!!! unfortunately...

Part of it is strength of schedule. This early in the season, with conference play just starting. Boise's schedule meatches up with most anyone. As conference continues it will go down
