Apparently some black Notre Dame jerseys showed up on ebay a few weeks back. It was mentioned in another thread but I couldnt remember which one so I started a new one.

Maybe they're a tribute or something to Army. I think Charlie has the upmost respect for the service academies and this is a way to show them respect and we appreciate them for what they do.

Uh, ND has a huge contract with NBC. And sells as much as merchandise as anyone. They have Adidas all over their gear.

I think they are and would be very surprised if they come out in black jerseys...it's all just rumor and speculation based on the ebay listings. Pretty sure we talked about it over the summer when topics were light.

Just to set the context, the black jerseys first appeared on eBay LAST NOVEMBER. That's over a YEAR ago.

Since then, it's been rumored that the team would wear them for the Fiesta Bowl (didn't happen), the Blue & Gold Game (didn't happen) and the Army game. The fact that the rumor keeps changing, growing and updating should tell you that this is nothing more than a rumor. Every time it doesn't happen, someone just updates the rumor. And after Notre Dame takes the field against Army decked out in blue, the rumor will change again, probably that we'll wear black for the bowl game, or for the Blue & Gold Game, or next year's home opener.

Black jerseys? Not happening. Period.

This "rumor" has been floating around for more than a year. Probably started by the people trying to sell them and kept alive by them.

The NCAA rules require the home team to wear the colored jersey and the visitor to wear white. If ND wants to "honor" Army's black jersey, ND can ask the NCAA for permission to wear White road jerseys so that Army could wear their black jerseys instead of their White road jerseys in the game.

It's just another alt-color jersey, like those horrid Vegas Gold jerseys. Black is an "in" color for alternative jerseys.

What difference does it make what they wear against Army or SC? The only thing I hope they're wearing are wins when the games are over.

We'll have to merge about 20 threads next week that beg the question "Does Charlie break out the green jerseys against SC at the Coliseum."

This is the last time that the Seniors will play in Notre Dame Stadium. In my opinion, the regular home uniforms should be worn.

Do "blackouts" ever work? Everytime I see one, the home team gets crushed. Leave the black at home and let the Seniors go out in the traditional blue.

I heard a rumor CW is going with throw-back leather helmets for the USC game.
