Penalities. We need to eliminate the mistakes as it's important that we play mistake free against Michigan.
As for Gioia, glad he made his kicks, but if you don't see a difference between the situations and settings, and the pressure of the kicks, and the import of the kicks...
He needs to show he can make important kicks. He had a clutch spot against Ga Tech and he blew it.
It's ain't the kicking game!
Perfect 7/7
The Carl Gioia battle cry!
...You guys are buzzkillers. We're 2-0.
I think PSU's biggest mistake was not going after Quinn. Instead, they sat back and watched Weis dissect them alive.
Going after Quinn is the best way to neutralize this offense. We did it last year, so did OSU. The result, 17 and 20 points relinquished, respectively. I think we have the LBs to place meaningful pressure on Quinn. Our new DC had an internal feud with our old DC about blitzing more, so I think this will work in our favor.
... but let's face it, he made the first two...when it was NOT at all clear that we were going to dominate. So, in my eyes, they were clutch enough.
Good job Gioia!!!
It'd be nice if all the issues could be resolved so quickly.
As long as they are resolved before they cost us a game.
At the end of the season I just want us to be 13-0. Ugly or not...13-0.
And it's killing them.
Coach Weis noted last week Gioia had a mechanics issue. He said it was identified and already addressed. Well done, Coach Weis, Coach Polian, and Carl Gioia.
Darius' running will pick up if the O-Line steps it up a knotch.
Did anyone notice that Darius is bad at following blockers? I went back and looked at a couple plays where he got caught trying to run around the end...if he had followed Schwap he would have gotten more yards.
Later this week I'll post my scouting report on M.
For now, though: nice game, Irish. There's nothing sweeter than routing a ranked team. Harp & Guiness all around.
Cheers.
