we only dropped one in the BCS, which I'm fine wit.... All we need to do is win out and not get blown out by USC and we are in another BCS game. As I stated repeatedly, I will be fine with two BCS games in a row after how many years of struggling. With the way we are recruiting, things are looking up, way up!!!

Lets also not forget CW is learning how to be a head coach, which I think is a big thing.

I've haven't been more proud to be an ND fan since the early 90's.

Go Irish!!

I believe ND is guaranteed a BCS berth if they finish in the top 8, and can be an at large if they are in the top 12. Next week ND should leap frog the loser of the Louisville - WVU game.

you got it BIG PUN... We should be around 4-7 going into USC, ASSUMING WE TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS, and if we win or narrowly lose well remain in the top 12...

I don't care much about rankings until the very end, but I will say this... I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING THE HATERS TALK ABOUT THE BOWL LOSES!!!!!

IF we do indeed get "blown out" at SC we'd better damn well win that BCS game, Jesus I am starved of bowl wins ( and we should all be) I still remember EVERY moment of the A&M cotton bowl in 93... IT'S BEEN TOO LONG!!!

Agreed. It will be interesting, at this point I really think there are some teams we have a pretty decent matchup with. I would love to see louisville or WVU or Texas. I guess we'll see. Does anyone know what the BSC drawing order is this year??

That's the funniest part. Here I am all worried, frustrated, and annoyed that we will have issues getting to 11-1.

God...what a wonderful problem to have.

2 years ago, we were wondering if we could get 6 wins and be bowl eligible (not that most of us even cared about a bowl at that point).

What a difference a coach makes.

If we have any chance at a national championship this year we have to root for USC to go undefeated heading into our game. If we beat an undefeated second ranked team on the road we will jump some one loss teams like Texas, or Auburn. Our computer numbers are solid right now(8th) a win over USC would improve our Harris and USA today poll numbers dramicatically, probably bumping us ahead of a team like Texas, and maybe even moving us ahead of a Michigan if they lose to OSU badly.

If USC loses a game or two, then no one will be impressed enough to bump us over some teams in the polls.

It's not out of the question, but I think we should all forget about a NC game, tooo many things need to happen. If it happens, wow, great but I'm focusing in on the future at this point. And whatever happens this year, as long as we don't lose to one of the academies, i view as gravy on my 2008/9 national championship meatloaf.

Are you kidding? They way the Irish played Saturday against a mediocre UCLA squad @ home- you better hope that 'consistency" kicks in, b/c you wouldn't want to face Lousiville, WVU, Texas, etc in a bowl game!

They have a mediocre offense at UCLA and were playing with a second string QB, my friend. As does Notre Dame, sans Quinn. Thank God for the ND defense in the second half, dare I say it.

That Bruin defense was all that I expected and more. They blew it by rushing 3 instead of 4 at the end of the game.

I think Clemson has a better football team than ND and Cal. Still think ND resides around 12th. They've done zip against quality defenses this year.

If they go to LA and beat SC, then they will have proven something. If they lose that game, we lose the argument.

Yeah, at this point the argument doesn't really matter much. If the Irish win up until USC, they will be in good position to prove something. But until then, it's hard to say where they belong. Either side has a strong argument.

11-1 is 11-1 and they will have played BCS schools minus the service academies, who are there strictly due to tradition.

They go 11-1, they will have earned the right to play a BCS game. National title? I doubt it, but we'll see what the others do. 10-2 with losses to scUM and SC, I have to think they go Gator this time. But stranger things have happened.
