Yes!! I know not many people care about bball on here but this is a great get. We had targeted 3 top 50 prospects in James Robinson, Gabe York, and Jerami Grant. After those 3 decided to go to Pitt, Arizona, and Syracuse respectively we moved on to our next target which was Zach Auguste. August is very physically gifted at 6'9" and has more athleticism then Careltom Scott.

Breyer and the staff have been really doing well and hanging in with the Big boys like Pitt, Cuse, and Zona. ND beat out Florida, WVU, Wake Forest, Clemson, Marquette, Mizzou, and Ga Tech for Auguste. Athleticism of the team is really on the rise.

Besides Auguste we also have concnsus top 50 wing Cameron Bieldshied who could start right away and Austin Burgett who is like Tim Abromaitis in that he is a white 6'8" shooter.

Bieldshied: Cameron Biedscheid - Yahoo! Sports

Burgett: Austin Burgett - Yahoo! Sports

I'm still questioning how we came up empty in the state of Indiana in the 2012 class for rivals top 150 players. Indiana was just loaded with talent having 11 recruits in the rivals 150. I know we obviously didn't offer all of these recruits and for most of the recruits in Indiana we are at least 3rd on the list of desirability behind IU and PU. Heck Butler seems to garner more interest from recruits in the state of Indiana. I was really hoping we would get Gary Harris although we appeared to be on the outside looking in with him as well.

It's still Notre Dame with high academic standards. The pool of talent is much smaller in basketball.

Brey is starting to step his game up slowly with recruiting. Huge recruit though.

Ha, I also went to a high school right near where this kid plays. New Hampton always has studs. I think Rashad McCants and Wes Miller (UNC) both went there, and they always send guys to big-time schools. Prep school basketball in New England always has stacked teams. If he can play and excel for New Hampton, he's legit.

these are all great recruits. Brey is slowly rebuilding this program with a lot of young talent. And as always, we can expect for him to throw in a few very good transfers in those classes at some point down the road. I think this years team will be pretty good because everyone has very low expectations for them. Just think if Carleton Scott hadnt have left! I have been a ND basketball fan longer than I have a ND football fan.

I feel that if Cooley, Atkins, Grant, and Brooks keep developing we could be a top 25 team.

Still 'shaking my head' at C. Scott...wow. Assuming something must have went down for him to leave(I remember it being speculated about, just don't remember hearing what the real reason was). I like watching ND BBall, it's nice they are on TV all the time! I just wish Benny H. had 1 more year, he was so fun to watch.

Starting 5?
1. Atkins
2. JBrooksLovesU (lol anyone follow him on twitter, what a dandy!)
3. Martin
4. Abro
5. Cooley

Looking at their roster, this is a TALL team...Atkins is 6'1 nobody else is under 6'5?! Wow

I think Grant will be a breakout player for us. I like Brooks, but I don't see him being more than a high-energy guy off the bench. I hope he proves me wrong and turns into a stud though.

Don't get too excited guys. Brey might be one of the best regular-season coaches in the country and regularly gets the best out of pretty crappy players. However, he always chokes in the tourney. Just wait till they face a predominantly black, athletic team, with a high-tempo offense.

I love atkins, I think grant will be good, love cooley (he adds the gody element), abro disappears in big games, and martin is the hillesland of this team. He is absolutely worthless offensively, and is usually mediocre defensively, with a few big plays mixed in. It is kind of shocking to see Brey getting 4-star players though.

Its because of this season is my guess. Does anyone else think Bieldshied will start right away?

I seriously doubt it. Brey is terrible with rotating in young talent. He only does it when he's seriously forced to. His 7-man(max) rotation may be one of the reasons ND's always so bad in the postseason. Remember, Carleton was rotting on the bench while Hillesland was missing dunks and dribbling off of his foot. His athleticism combined with the experience from playing earlier would have made him even better this past year.

I don't know what the scout article says, but there is activity on twitter that is saying it is down to IU, PU, UK and MSU with someone claiming that Gary's father has stated that he will sign during the early signing period which begins on the 9th and ends on the 16th. So his decision should be coming shortly.
