Was lucky enough to get tickets to today's game from my wife's uncle, an alumnus who got us field tickets in the endzone, front row. Great experience. I'll try not to rehash what has already been stated, but I'll give some thoughts from what I saw from the stadium:
* Say what you want about the music, but the players clearly love it. Lots of dudes pumped up when it plays, especially Slaughter. Definite plus to the stadium, and the music seemed to be better quality from what they were playing last year.
* KLM had his helmet off but he was out there stalking the sideline pumping up the D and cheering them on big-time. True captain.
* Russell sure does have some confidence, and boy does that kid talk!!! On the 4th and 10 play near the end of the game (which Purdue scored on), coming on to the field he was the one pumping more than anyone, chest pumping guys, slapping helmets, etc etc.
* I don't think the fans were booing Rees...I think they were booing Kelly. I did say, "WTF??? Rees...nooooooo!" (But I didn't boo.) And I also said that BK was laying his ND job on the line on that series. But damn if Rees didn't come through!!! Epic for Rees, and a great call by BK...
* I too could not believe we didn't run more, and so did my ND buddies back in L.A. who were texting me during the game. I know people disagree, but I really think we should have run more.
* Thank God Kelly came out and said Golson was the starter next week for sure. That alleviated all the stupid QB controversy (well, for most people anyway).
Having said that, the offense sucked once our 2 best playmakers went out. That makes things hard for any QB.
Some pics:
Toma, praying before the game:
This usher was THE MAN! Actually implored us to stand up at times!
Before the game, near our tailgate, the Purdue cheerleaders were practicing and taking their own team photos. They were gracious enough to take a pic with my daughter:
I'm exhausted...I'll try to post more pics tomorrow!
