Don't get me wrong, I wish all of our players played with his intensity and passion. I just wished he played a little smarter in terms of his assignments on the football field.

I'm sure none of you would make any mistakes if you were in his position, give me a break. These are kids, doing the best they can, playing for a University that we all supposedly love. The internet critic/tough guy/all-american is getting old, go find something that REALLY matters and bitch about it, and try supporting the team-player and coaches, for once.

Thought it was an interesting quote from Kelly concerning Brian;

"Maybe this isn't right to say, but I wasn't a big Brian Smith fan early on. I thought he looked maybe a little too much at what he could do instead of what the team could do. I told him today, if I had anything to do with making the decision on a fifth year, which I certainly don't, I'd be the first one in line advocating for Brian Smith to come back for another year. I would not have said that early in the year."

He stated the faculty board makes the decision, but it does not matter in Brian's case - His eligibility expires after this season anyway.

That's what I thought. Seems like a weird way of praising a player then, but *shrug*. I got excited for a second, because I like the way B Smith's been playing a lot better this year, especially at ILB against Tulsa.

I'd be the first one in line advocating for Brian Smith to come back for another year.

seems like an odd thing to say if he's talking about a decision that's Brian Smith's to make. It sounds like it's the faculty board's decision in cases where a 5th year is possible, which is exactly what I was wondering. Obviously, the player could always decide not to come back, but he has to be offered the opportunity before he can say no.
