ND stays at #12 picking up 42 points. Oregon however picked up 141 points and jumped from #13 to #11 into the slot VT vacated. The Hokies free fell 10 spots to #21.

Despite two narrow wins over hapless opponents UGA lost only 4 points from last week and remains at #10. GT entered the poll last week at #24 and leaped up 6 slots to #18 with the drubbing of VT.

Note PSU and UCLA are in the Others Receiving Votes category.

BC crept into #25 with an impressive shoutout of Div 1AA Maine.

Playing a AA opponent should be an automatic 12 slot drop.

never ceases to amaze me .....we are seriously getting fucked over by the polls. teams are again leapfrogging us after we win?? I just don't get it. And Georgia is still #10 after struggling 2 weeks in a row! I know there is lots of time left, but it's obvious the polls are trying to keep us down on a week by week basis.

We are never gonna get what we should you have to expect that...but when you look as bad as we have that just adds fuel to the fire...

I think we will have to beat SC before they move us up. Expect to see more teams leapfrogging us. That Michigan game was pretty bad and the stain of that loss still remains. We just have to focus on beating the opponent. We can't focus on polls, because we know we're going to get screwed even though we've played the toughest schedule so far. I wonder how many teams in the Top 10 would still be there after playing our schedule. Not many, especially Georgia. That ranking is by reputation only. They are not a Top 10 team. They are too inexperienced at QB.

Every team on that list ranked ahead of Notre Dame would beat them.

I do struggle with Oregon moving 3 spots to jump above us...

One reason why ND didn't move up, D giving up almost 500 yards to Purdue. That is it. That is why we are where we are, and Jigga is absolutely right, everyone ahead of us would beat us. With our D, we aren't a top 10 team at this point in the season.

I'm not sure if ND could not beat any of the teams ahead of them, but I actually think they are ranked right where they deserve to be. The polls will sort it out a little bit, also. If Georgia loses next week, ND will move up (assuming ND will also win). I"m also ok with Oregon moving up. If ND keeps winning, the polls will sort things out to the extent that it can. The biggest problem, still, is not having a playoff.

There's plenty of doubt.

Anyone with speed on defense that can halt this offense just a bit beats Notre Dame. They'll probably win every game up until SC providing they stay healthy and outscore UCLA (They'll need to), but SC and their bowl game are going to reveal a lot of truths about this year's squad.

They're ranked right where they need to be. Oregon played a ranked ASU team and squashed them.

usc is probably the most overated team in the top 10 right now and yes their bowl game will tell alot.

I think tennessee will outscore georgia saturday. That could move tennessee ahead of us and possibly georgia behind us.
oregon/california will be a game that could shake things up a little also as well as the florida/lsu game.lsu losses and they will drop back(around 15th or 16th) because of 2 losses even thought they were to teams ranked in the top 5.

notre dame needs to have a convincing win against stanford saturday

because i don't like them? :cheeburga

hostile environment or not...I'm not very impressed with their offense the last couple weeks, nor was I impressed with their offense against nebraska.
georgia is the only one who would not outscore usc on offense.

even arizona is penciled in with having this great defense, but lsu scored around 45 on them.

I'm not one who compares game to game, even you know different day, weather, environment, who's injured, who's hot and who's not...so i don't want to contradict myself so it's just my opinion.

Emmanuel Moody appears to be their running back. Fullback injuries are hurting them.

By the time ND comes knocking, both teams should be much better than they are now. But that SC front five is what concerns me i.e. Notre Dame. They should have their way with our boys.

Do I smell crack burning?

Because otherwise, you're clueless & insane.

Tell me: when did Georgia get routed at home by a team they were favored to beat? I'm sorry but it's gonna take more than three weeks for the stench to clear.

USC has a defense that's about three light years ahead of ND's. I hate them too, but they deserve their ranking.

uh...I think i was talking about teams ranked in the top 10.Notre dame doesn't appear to be ranked in the top 10.
So what's your comment have to do with the other teams ranked in the top 10.Is their defense's three light years behind usc's. :countdown

this really doesn't have anyhting to do with my disliking to usc and is just my amatuer opinion, but usc starts out the season ranked 6 in polls and beats arkansas.
They jump over auburn who waxed washington state and west virginia who beat marshall by a lot more then tennessee did.
That right there is the whole key to the political incorrectness of the polls.Usc is ranked #2 and will stay there until someone beats them.

arkansas a team who beat vanderbilt because a backwards pass was called an incomplete pass late in the game after a vanderbilt defensive player picked it up and ran into the end zone for a winning score. The same arkansas team that beat alabama becuse of 'bama's kicking woes.

but at the same time someone could point out that alabama overcame that arkansas loss and played florida a lot tougher then expected and south carolina could have beat auburn.
usc is the only undeafeted team to play only bcs schools and on the road at that and still be undeafeted.

i could go on and on with anologies of this, but don't have the time and it stills comes down to the day,the place, the atmosphere,etc...etc...

these are just my opinionated analysis of the game play that we all have seen thus far,but usc leapfrogging the first week is why they are ranked #2.

boy,i love college football, doesn't get any better.

Maybe.

I'll tell you one thing, if Florida is still unbeaten in another month, they get my number one vote easily. Their schedule is flat out murder.

Eh, I gotta disagree w/ you there. I don't think Georgia, Oregon, Louisville, and maybe even West Virginia ('cause who the hell knows what they are w/ that schedule?) would be automatic wins against the Irish this season. And I guess we'll get to see about USC later in the year, but after a close victory to Washington State, I'm not impressed.

I at first thought about georgia, but they have a great defense.the other 3 teams you mentioned never crossed my mind.

I've faced it about notre dame for this year and if alot of things don't improve, then I'll be eating egg off my face after the usc game.

I'd like to see Georgia's defense face off against a strong offense. South Carolina's probably the best they've faced and scored thusly:

Miss. St. 15
Georgia 0
Wofford, yes, Wofford 27
Florida Atlantic 45
Auburn 17

I'm not saying their defense isn't a very good one, but great units can only overcome the other side's shortcomings for so long. Just as ND's defense hurts the offense, I think UGA's terrible offense will cost them at some point soon.

The last three could score at will against ND. UGA has speed.

but after a close victory to Washington State, I'm not impressed.

They won on the road without their best receiver. Could ND have beaten GT or MSU on the road without Rhema?

SC's defense is very, very good and they have injury issues in the secondary that would have most teams scrambling. I don't "like" them either, but lets face the facts that their team, right now, would be a heavy favorite at home to beat Notre Dame. They lost quite a bit of talent on offense and to this point, they are still getting it done.

I simply don't see them losing at home 47-21.

A lot of that can change from now until when the Irish play them.

Overall, right now, Notre Dame is ranked right where they belong: 4-1.

Do they have a QB at UGA?

Cox, Stafford, Tereshinski?

Their D and being at home still won't save them. The Vols appear back and they're staying out of jail.

Ole Miss never should have canned Cutcliffe.

Tereshinkski has some injury issues and even healthy has limitations. Stafford is a freshman playing in the SEC. The most troubling part of their offense is the lack of a dominating run game. They have a stable of talented backs that have thus far this season underachieved. It would be one thing if they had the passing weapons to compensate for that, but they don't.

You're right about Ole Miss.
