Anyone catch the new Pirates movie?

I've heard conflicting reports and would like to see if it is a worthy movie to see while on the big screen. The experts are giving it bad reviews while movie goers are giving it rave ones... who's legit here?

i saw it his weekend and i couldn't enjoy myself. some parts were funny. depp is his classic self, but the acting in it is TERRIBLE. all the plot twists are far too predictable. did i mention the acting is terrible. i was laughing through the whole first sequence which was supposed to be very serious. good special effects.

in conclusion, it's a rental. sets up for a good trilogy. don't waste the money. i can't believe it beat spiderman's record opening weekend.

I am a huge Pirates fan...as is a good buddy of mine. He said that it was brutal...he could barely stay in the theater. He was doubly-disappointed since he was such a big fan.

i'm right on the line of thought. i loooooooooved the first but the only reason worth staying through the movie is to see the setup for the third, which i pray is better than this one.

i was very disappointed in pirates 2. too much story not enough action. the first was balanced throughout. in the first one i sat still in my seat but, this one i actually had to shift butt cheeks. dont get me started on the ending...... boooooooooooo!!!!!!!! i give it a C- , part three better give me a hard on.

Man, everybody's panning it on here! I guess I'll be the lone voice sticking up for Pirates 2.

I'd say catch it on a matinee showing. I actually missed the first one in theatres and only saw it on DVD a week before the 2nd one came out, and I wish I'd seen it on the big screen. The action set pieces in the 2nd one make it worth seeing on the big screen too.

Just remember: it's Jerry Bruckheimer, not William Shakespeare. Set your expectations low and catch it on a matinee, and you might be pleasantly surprised.

the only movie that is worse then this one was Walking Tall starring the Rock, other then that this went about 90 minutes to long. Two thumbs way down.
