Another Florida football player was arrested this weekend, and he was tasered by the cops to boot. This brings, if I'm correct, 29 players arrested since Urban Lair's hiring (or is it 29 arrests? I think it's actually 29 arrests). This kid is a stud too. Too bad that as punishment he'll probably have to sit out the first series against Charleston Southern. That'll show him, Urban...

Here's a Baltimore Sun Link to the AP story

Gators football player arrested, shot with Taser after fight; charged with resisting arrest -- baltimoresun.com

I didn't get a hit on google for the gainsville site

CB Janoris Jenkins was charged with hitting another man in the head and resisting arrest without violence when he tried to walk away.

Jenkins told police the fight started because he thought someone was going to steal the gold chain around his neck.
Jenkins' attorney Huntley Johnson says he believes his client acted in self-defense and prosecution will be deferred or charges dismissed.

Sorry guys. Here's the story:

Gainesville Police arrested UF starting cornerback Janoris Jenkins over the weekend after they reported he was involved in a fight and an officer used a Taser on him.

Jenkins, 20, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of affray and resisting arrest without violence, according to a report.

Police received a report of a fight in the 100 block of South Main Street and arrived at the location at about 2 a.m., Saturday to find Jenkins fighting with about five other people. An officer ordered the group to stop fighting but no one listened to the commands, the report stated.

The officer then drew out a Taser and told the group stop. At that point, Jenkins hit another person in the head, police reported. The officer then used the Taser on Jenkins.

Jenkins was hit with one cycle from the Taser, but afterward he stood up and ran away.

The officer reported he yelled at Jenkins to stop but he kept running. He was later arrested about one and a half blocks away. Police said Jenkins admitted he was fighting with the others because he thought they were trying to steal his chain, according to the report.

Jenkins, a rising sophomore, was named to the Freshman All-SEC team by the league’s coaches. Last season he became the second true freshman in school history to start at cornerback on opening day.

Boys will be boys and men will be men. We like women and sometimes we act tough. Some can follow through. At some point though, the coaching staff and administration need to enforce discipline. Those that don't are absolute chicken shits.

Urban's probably notified Riggs already about the prospects of Early PT.

"Too bad about Janoris, proabably looking at 15 to Life. Wow, I would have thought he could outrun a donut dunker. I only want fast guys like you on my team. Let's make it happen! Did I mention how cold it gets in South Bend in January?

Yeah and that is why the Irish have struggled with coaching hires because they need to find a coach that can recruit given their academic standards, discipline players, and win. Though it seems alot of people on this site only care about the wins.

Discipline from DAY ONE. Establish who the boss is, if the boss is worth a shit. Otherwise, things easily go astray.

Miss practice, see the coach for discipline.

DUI, B&E, Drug Possession, A&B, sexual harassment, academic issues should be See The Dean time.

As long as Universities shun their responsibility for student-athletes actions and leave it in the hands of a coach they deserve it.

Misdemeanor. At least he didnt rape anyone or accept a house, car, money (cough cough Reggie bush). He admitted it once he was caught, im sure Meyer isnt going to let him down easy. He will play im sure, but he will pay for it that is certain.

Although Meyer rarely reveals punishment for players, Miller said the penalties can be stiff. He said players get all sorts of privileges revoked and have to do extra early morning workouts.

Guy shoot AK-47 he has stashed in his trunk ...
Guy uses credit card stolen, from dead girl, 70 times over 7 months ...
Guy puts pillow over girl friends mouth after choking her ...

Priviledges revoked and early morning workouts.

And, they wonder why it's not working.

Conflict of Interest?

Conflict of Interest?

UF athletic director Jeremy Foley:
No one here condones our players stepping out of line, and everyone here wants to get better. However, Urban Meyer and his staff are the best that I have seen in modifying behavior and at the end of the day, the majority of the players who come through this program will make us all proud and not just because they are good football players.

AD Foley might want to add that his observing of coaches modifying behavior is limited to UF. He started at an intern in the ticket officed in 1974 and has worked his entire career in UF's Athletic Department rising to AD in '92. During that time UF's football coaches have been Doug Dickey, Charlie Pell, Galen Hall, Gary Darnell, Steve Spurrier, Ron Zook, and Urban Meyer. As AD at UF he also carries the title of CFO for the Athletic Department's $89 million budget. As AD he receives a salary of $1.2 million plus bonuses.

Isn't behavior modication that the University's job? The Dean of Students not the Football Coach.

Does the Head of the English Department make English majors committing such crimes get up at 6:00 am to run the Library Steps?

Florida's opponents have also had their problems.
Florida State's football program has dealt with 13 arrests over the same four-year period, according to research by the Gainesville Sun, while Tennessee has had 21 arrests and Georgia 30.

Extra workouts obviously work.
