I personally know Aaron. I played football with him back in the day. Smart guy glad to have him.

Well, hope this makes Koon happy.

Any fresh perspective is good IMO. Hopefully this guy can change somethings for the better. Is this like a glorified internship? I didn't know the assistant coaches had assistants other than GA's.

Well he was Michigan's old S&C coach and he's been doing this for 18 years so I hope its not a glorified internship.

I'm sure it's a temporary gig for Aaron. He probably just needed a landing spot before getting a director gig somewhere else.

Look at someone like Jacob Flint:

Jacob Flint Bio - UND.COM - University of Notre Dame Official Athletic Site

I don't know if Jacob is still on the staff, or Aaron is taking his spot, or a new spot is being created, but Jacob's duties make him seem like he's Paul right hand man. With a program as important as football, Longo definitely is not the only guy making sure the players are doing things the right way.

And if you look at Jacob or other people on the staff roster with his job title, they're definitely not grad assistants. Jacob has been working for Kelly as a S&C coach since 2007 at Cincinnati. Other folks with that assistant job title focus on Olympic sports and have nearly a decade of college experience.

Serious question, since a lot of guys rag on Longo and I don't know if you are serious or joking, if this guy has been at Michigan for awhile....has he done a good job for them? I have no idea how well their players have developed, who has been drafted, etc. I would appreciate any insight some of you can provide. Thanks.

I thought that was an interesting look at how he ran things at Michigan.

I don't know much about him specifically, but I do chuckle because he really does come off as an S&C coach -- keep him locked in a gym and away from a mic and camera. He just seems like a typical S&C dude who's on edge 24 hours a day. Guy's got the eyes of a crazy person.

I'll ask the obligatory questions:

1) Does he have any eligibility left?

2) Can he play safety?

It is interesting that he has a reputation for building explosive strength in his players.

And, he has consistent ideas about mental toughness . . . consistent with BK's talk, and with statements made by Longo.

Of course I have no idea exactly how the physical preperation of our athletes is handled, but,

I'm hoping this is a opportunity to split our guys up so to speak. Example all big guys train

together and have a basic template and the skill guys have a basic template. Maybe thats

how it is now, but in the limited amount of footage of seen, it appears everyone does the

same stuff. Sheldon Day and Greg Bryant have entirely different needs in terms of

physical preparation. Hopefully this gives the opportunity for some serious one on one

and small group training.

There's typically a core routine everyone does, then routines for positions. For example, linemen would do a lot more squats than DB's. DB's would have exercises to improve their vertical and back pedal.
