A Recruit's Visit

IE,

After watching the new Irish Connection video and reading some of the comments about the change in the pre-game walk I had a couple questions some of you might be able to help answer.

1) Does anyone know what a "typical" game day visit is like for a recruit?
2) Are the recruits with the team at any point on game day? Would they be in the locker room to hear BK say, "In this room, we win. Out there, they get a chance to feel it." and have the hair on the back of their neck stand up?
3) Who usually is their escort around campus?

*I'm sure things change each year and under different coaching staffs*

I guess after watching that video yesterday and seeing some of the "behind the scenes" footage I was curious/hoping that recruits in town on visits would get to see that stuff too.

Also, if you could list of a few things for the recruits to see while on campus, what would those be?

Recruits on official and unofficial are given different experiences. I have had recruits do unofficials there but never officials.

Pretty sure the recruits go through the pregame routine with the team. So, I think they would be a part of the whole thing, except maybe a team meeting or two.

I tried finding some info through Google, but nothing concrete. Safe to assume every school is different and most won't give out their secret strategies when it comes to wooing a recruit. The breakdown I did find described a trip to Cal (how it compares to ND is beyond me). Recruits arrived at the airport and are greeted by the recruiter/position coach/recruiting coordinator/etc. The family is taken to a hotel and checked in. Depending on the length of the trip various activities are planned: campus tour, meeting with academic dept, meeting with head coach, etc. From what I've heard, recruits have tickets to the games. Some sit in the student section (I've heard stories of ND students hoisting recruits up for push-ups). Some schools allow recruits to be in the locker room after a game (taken from the Cal article), however, I'm unaware if they can be in there before the games. The rest of the time may be spent hanging out and getting to know the coaches and potential teammates. Most recruits are paired up with a couple of the players who may have something in common.

I'm sure someone has more details, but this is just what I could find.

My junior year, a bunch of us wore pink shirts in the front rows behind the recruits. We had Aldridge, Wenger, and a huge DL recruit getting thrown up during pushups. I was basically doing squats with the big DL. They ate it up.

Not going to ask
Only kidding.

What better way to get the recruits involved in one of the many great gameday traditions. I'm sure they all love it.

That was the year the shirts looked like pee.

We made funny ones, got absolutely sh*tcanned, and got on TV

We also got a shoutout from Weis for helping with the recruits

recruits have "minders" with them on their visit i minder per recruit and his family/coach etc...minder picks up/drops off all guests at airport and on game days they jump in behind the team after team passes by on the player walk i think thats first time they hook up with them team on a game day...i am 99% sure that parents coaches all stay at st davds inn and recruit is partnered up with a few players and they have choice to stay with them or have a hotel room as well the big day is sunday morning on an OV visit thats when HC meets with all the recruits and just the recruits (done now at the Gug)

+1

Hope the student section has been working out w/ Longo this off-season. BK's offense put up some points.
