I'm really not trying to bash Weis, but come on. What exactly do you do in practices?

I wish the "Bob"s from "Office Space" would be at the next presser:

"So....what... what would ya say you DO here?"

Any heat on Weis within reason at this point is absolutely deserved to be honest...

I have to agree, only a 6 win season plus a bowl game win would keep people quiet til next year... not sure that's gonna happen...

Charlie will have to talk fast to get his way out of this one. Maybe we need to video tape some signals>>>>>>

Here's my question... "If you were the average die hard,( which you are supposed to be) would YOU be calling for the coaches head right now??? Why, why not."

From an average die hard. After game one I just knew we would make improvement in game two. After seeing a little improvement, I just new we would make more improvement in game three. After game three, we looked worse than we did in game one. So I'm not looking forward to next week like I was this one. And yes I'm beginning to question the coaching capabilities of not only wies but latina and corwin as well. Not that I'm calling for their heads but Something has got to give. We have made zero adjustments to improve our play which adjustments are the coaches job to make. Is our line really this bad or being coached poorly?

you can only do so much. this team isn't capable of scoring 35 points in a game, no matter how much game planning you do.

The linemen are that bad. At this point, it is time to pull the OL guys who are sucking and put in the Sophs and Frosh.

Why?

Who we played today:

A team that lost to a Div 1-AA team.

A team that got SLAUGHTERED by a mediocre Oregon team (Hell, I think Oregon just scored ANOTHER TD on the skunkbears as I type this.)

We show up (more like arrive, because we sure as hell didn't "show up") for the game against said team and:

Win? No.

Play competitively? NO.

At least not look like a joke? NO.

Make ABC struggle to try to keep people from switching channels because we're getting absolutely EMBARRASSED by the aforementioned team? YES YES YES

One could make the excuses about the first 2 games because GT and PSU are actually good teams. Not so now.

One final note: Our defense has scored more points in ONE PLAY than our offense has in THREE GAMES.

That's why.

At the very least, we should be competitive. We're not neven close. All our guys on the OL line were all recruited by the majopr programs. Therefore, I dont think it's the talent, I think it's the coaching!!!!!!!

You have no idea what you are talking about with the OL.

We have 3 guys above Sophomore on the OL.

3.

Not 3 who play...just 3.

None of the new guys have significant play time in the last year. They are all basically new.

The lack of OL is killing us.

Here's another reason why. Our offense didn't get beat by Michigan's defense alone. I would say that we were shooting ourselves in the foot, but we were too busy tripping over ourselves to get an accurate shot. The way we played on offense today, we could have lined up against St. Mary's and not scored.

I agree that it starts with the OL, but we actually have 4, not 3. 3 Juniors (though whether or not Sully's former-walk-on back-up should count is debatable) and Sully.

How did it get so bad?

How did it get so bad?

Let me get this off my chest: Wow, that hurt.
The OL stinks. As a blocker, so does John Carlson ... the guy could not block his shadow. Weis is playing too many young skill players on offense (RB and QB). And the defense is as porous as ever.
You can't have it both ways. We slammed Travis Thomas last week and I'm the first to admit that I thought Darius Walker was slow. Evan Sharpley could not sense the blitz. But Thomas would not fumble like Allen and Sharpley probably deserved a more serious shot than he got.
Speaking of running backs, I can't remember a crop of runners as unimpressive as this one. (Minus 8 rushing yards for the year! Do you remember the days under Holtz when ND ran for 200+ yards/game!) I grew up watching Ricky Watters and Reggie Brooks and Jerome Bettis. Notre Dame hasn't had a serious running back since Jones. The speedy guys go elsewhere. I have high hopes for Armando Allen and Robert Hughes, but they are too young to be relied upon in big games (ON THE ROAD, to boot).
And I don't know what class the center today was, but he looked as nervous as a freshman with a new girlfriend in the stands.
It's fair, at this point, to write off this year. (Would the IRS allow you to deduct the cost of tickets? .... he he). But it's going to be painful thru November, and it's going to be a long wait for next year.
Hopefully Weis will develop Clausen this year (some pass protection would help) and not hit the panic button with CRIST written on it.

I think our O-line struggle is simply from youth and inexperience.

I watched some of the other games and you see the O-line for other teams. OSU for instance they're replacing most of there O-lineman but they're replacing them with redshirt juniors, seniors and 5th year guys. They've developed the depth at those positions. Outside of QB and CB I think making the jump from HS to college as a lineman is extremely difficult. Most aren't as strong as the seniors when they come in.

That being said these guys need to show some pride. From what I've seen this team isn't as bad as it's except for the O-line. If we can't protect and if we can't run it doesn't matter if Bill Walsh and Joe Montana are out there. It wouldn't make a difference.

Someone has to get in these kids face. They're better than this and they know it!

Wow. Very witty. Here's the thing. He's getting payed MILLIONS of dollars to field a football team. I have yet to see that this year. For all I care you could call everyone on here "coach Weis" and it makes no difference because, based on the team's performance today, there isn't a whole lot of evidence to suggest that anyone here could possibly produce worse results.

I could give a shit, I went with the actual thread by giving a Question I would actually like to ask CW, you answered it as if you know a damn thing about what is going on behind closed doors at ND... ;)

Just for clarification, I responded to your question about die-hard fans, etc. with the assumption that you were posing that question to "us," not as a question that you would ask CW.

Yes, the title of the thread is "A Question for CW," but I opened it with a question for CW, and all other posts (with the exception of your question) have been discussion that has followed, and I did not realize your intention was literally a "question for CW."

I assumed that... if that is your apology, accepted... I am sorry as well if you felt attacked after the fact...

Apology for what !?!?!?

I reply to a question you pose, not realizing you meant it for CW (just like most of the people on here, considering you're the only one who has chastised me for it,) and you go on to bash me in multiple threads over it, and I'm supposed to be apologizing for something? OK.

We lost.
We lost in the most embarrassing manner possible.
Whether it is me who is saying it or not, it happened.
Stop taking out your frustration over it on a msg board, Mr. Moderator.

ladies and gentlemen.....please listen to a person who knows what charlie weiss is capable of. not much. he was hired because the powers to be thought he would be another bill belichik. not quite. to give him (or anybody) a contract that long is absolutely insane. charlie knows offense. that's it. i predict he will be bought out by the end of next season. look for tuition to go up 5k next year to pay for it. not to worry. new england is looking for another videographer.
