Against um, Not bad considering we were without Crist for a half. Happy with the offense just 25 more yards would have won it. Bring on Mich St.!

It's a point not many bring up, and sadly the media is too busy wiping Robinson's load off their faces to mention Michigan's defense got torched just as much by Crist as Notre Dame did by Robinson. Crist had 277 passing in a half and one drive, plus 19 rushing yards and 3 total touchdowns with a 163.5 rating. Impressive as hell--it's not a stretch to say Crist was on pace for a 450-500 yard passing day. Notre Dame would win that game 7/10 times, judging by that performance.

Against Michigan State, Notre Dame's offense needs to click. Crist needs to stretch the field vertically with TJ Jones and Michael Floyd. Michigan State's linebackers are as good as any team they'll see all year, the underneath stuff won't be as easy. Michael Floyd needs to win this game for the Irish.

I'd like to see 31-20, Irish. Floyd catching two touchdowns and Notre Dame rushing for 125 whilst holding the Spartans to <300 yards of offense.

Kudos and reps to you sir, thanks for bringing the positive.

To tell you the truth, I haven't looked at any stats yet for the game, haven't watched any ESPN, have barely even come on this site. Such is the way after a tough loss like that. I can hardly bare to think about sports, it's to painful. (Like serious physical pain.)

Thanks, I feel better now. I knew Dayne looked good!

True, with Crist in there more than likely there would have been a lot more yds. than this and very possibly a win for the Irish. Then again, I don't think that scUM's defense is much to talk about. It's definitely worse than they've been in the past! I'm doubtful that it will flow as fluid this w/e against Sparty. Let's just pray that Crist doesn't go down again!!!

The Michigan late scores at the end of each half would not have happened if we had moved the ball better. Robinson would have been in the locker room and a couple hundred yards of his offense would have been erased.
Dropped passes, overthrows and interceptions killed drives that would have kept Michigan's offense off the field.
I think our defense played a great game.
The best way to neutralize a good or great player is to keep him on the bench. (See Indy Colts vrs Houston)

I liked what I saw from Crist when we was in there. Seemed much more confident in the pocket than last week. I hope this is the week the offense completely gels, and we run up about 700 yards total offense! Yeah, I said it. :)

And I don't care what anyone says, I've watched the game 3 times and the DEFENSE kept us in that game. The third quarter was a thing of beauty. When was the last time we could say that about the Irish?

Looking forward to sparty. :)

Welcome aboard Alex!

I haven't been able to bring myself to re-watch the game. BUt I'm staying home from work today, sick as a dog, so maybe I'll bring myself to watch the first drive of the game, and then the 2nd half. You're right...the defense was awesome that 2nd half!

Oh, and my students (all 90 of them...middle schoolers) gave me a hard time yesterday b/c of the loss. They shut their mouths when I showed them the score on the whiteboard after the 1st drive (7-0), then after the 1st half when Dayne was out (7-21), then when Dayne came back until the final drive (24-21 ND). Of course we lost, but they respected the fact that with our #1 QB in their it was a route.

As pissed as I was after the game, I'm surprisingly upbeat about this team. We finally have a great COLLEGE head coach. The man just knows what he's doing. The recruits and their parents see it. The nation will see it soon enough. Just wait until he gets his guys in there. This year might not be that good, but I truly believe we'll beat SC and end up 7-5 or 8-4, with the needle pointing way up. Remember, Lou Holtz went 5-6 his first year, and Nick Satan went 7-6. Next year we are going to be really good. This year...pretty good. And I'm OK with that as long as we're playing better and progress is being made.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I tried to make my first post as a new thread to share a highlight video my wife and I made, but it told me a moderator had to approve my message first. Thought I did something wrong at first, but then the reading comprehension kicked in and I realized that's just the way the board works. Go me! :)

I felt the same way after the game; let down that we lost, but somehow upbeat about the team as a whole. I really feel optimistic about this season and can't wait for next weekend.

To be fair, Holtz and company played something like five teams ranked in the Top 10 and were something like 15 points combined from being 10-1.

I agree with everything about growth and stuff, but there needs to be a sense of urgency now... if we lose to MSU and drop two of three from BC,Stan. and Pitt (which is possible because all four are good teams) then this season is pretty bunch nothing more building towards next... and MAYBE towards being the season we beat SC.

If we can win 3 out of 4 you have to think a good/great season is doable THIS YEAR... and yes the Michigan game will come back to huant us at some point... had to have that one. Throw all that in with the fact (yes it's a fact) that this fan base has been playing the "calm down, give it a year and we'll be fine" game for close to a full decade now... ugh.

Personally, I'm highly stressed/worried about these next four games... very big. And it all starts on Saturday being a 3 point dog to a very solid team on the road....
