If he can’t excel in his education at HS he’s gonna do well at ND

Not to mention he seemed into it and maybe working towards it until that OSU offer came in. This was never one we were gonna end up with

I don’t have any issues with Washington’s recruiting. His coaching on the other hand…

We’ll see how he does when he’s not living off Elston’s guys and transfers. Looks like he should be on track for one with Traore.

I don't get the argument about his coaching.

Cross and Mills weren't the level of players they are at now back in 2021 when Elston was coach. Washington 100% played a major role in developing them into the great tandem of DTs they are now, not to mention the improvements shown from guys like Rubio and Onye, plus developing JJB into a well-rounded strongside end, when he struggled immensely at OSU in run defense.

If anything, Washington is having to make this work DESPITE Elston, because at the end of his run, Elston was not recruiting well. His final to classes left a lot to be desired, particularly when it came to recruiting big interior guys. Elston consistently went after guys with limited size and not much room to grow bigger. Rubio and Kahuna were kind of the exception to the rule, but guys like Lacey, Cross and Ademilola, were guys that, while productive, couldn't get much bigger than around 285.

I think Washington has done a better job coaching than some are giving him credit for. Overall, not sure why there's this notion that he's just living off Elston's work, when he's been the guy coaching and developing them the past 2 years.

On IBs podcast, Ryan Roberts said that there is a lot to decipher as to why the visit didn't happen. What he knows to be true:

ND won't be recruiting Campbell moving forward. On Ryan's speculation of it, he believes it was Campbell's decision, and not a ND decision. He believes ND would have had a chance if they pushed harder for him after offering.

Now, NDs recruiting under Freeman, is that if they really like a guy, they go hard after that player. See Mark Zackery, Ivan Taylor as examples. Leads me to believe that they didn't like him as much as other targets (not just on DL)
