We're getting to a point where something about the review rules need to be tweaked. Way too much deference is given to the call on the field. Every week there's a few games where a call is upheld and the booth rationale is "Yes the entire runner and his extended family are having a picnic beyond the line to gain, but we can't see the ball behind his forearm so we can't say for certain that the ball didn't momentarily escape to a pocket dimension. Call upheld because we just don't have the evidence."
This play is the opposite but just as stupid. Any person with eyes can look at that ball and put together that it's not going to hit the line, but because the ball dissappears for a second, there's a chance the ball carrier is Mr. Gadget so the call is upheld.
