Again, ESPN is gaslighting everyone.

Every person outside of that network's control is telling the truth. And before any Non-ND person yells "Brady Quinn is a ND guy!" Know that Brady works for FOX and so does Mark Ingram....who's also saying the same things. So is Damien Harris (CBS). Both are Alabama guys. See above for Will Compton's inputs too (Bussin' left Barstool and only do cameos on ESPN shows. They have no ownership or advertiser affiliation to my knowledge). Lavar's reaction to Brady during this clip should be alarming. Even he didn't seem to know that ESPN owned the rights to ACC coverage.

Watch replays of classic ND games
He and I always do. But he also likes to watch the teams he sees on Sportscenter. He just loves telling me who won and who lost all the games in all the sports. I’d keep him 5 forever if I could. He especially enjoys watching games from ‘93 (besides BC) since I was the same age then that he is now.

Fuck over teams like ND and BYU, they can be mad and do a little saber rattling, but at the end of the day, they are faith based institutions that won’t crawl into the sewer for a shit fight, and will always keep it PG rated.

We live in a society where the most petulant, vulgar and loud get their way, and this outcome was a pretty good example of that.

Enjoy every minute. Mine are 7 and 10. That 3-5 age range is pure magic.

So ND being independent is an issue and ND should join a conference.

Meanwhile, the biggest impediment to finalizing a new playoff format is the conferences and their allegiances.
The greatest source of financial inequality among teams is due to the conferences.
The greatest source of instability and the destruction of rivalries is due to the conferences.
The absolute relic of useless bowls that cost teams money and no one wants to attend is due to the conferences.
The AQ's that resulted in two teams who were absolutely not among the 12 best in the country was due to the conferences.
Someone should do the financial analysis to determine if the added bloat of conference administration is even offset from additional revenues. The conference commissioner's salary alone might not be worth it.

I think its pretty clear that independence isn't the issue... its the conferences. In a world where everyone is independent or there is one large body, the vast majority of the issues currently found in college football all of a sudden just disappear.

Yeah I won’t be watching a single game this playoff run, it’s an incomplete playoff as far as I’m concerned. I’m going to enjoy the holidays with my wife and kids and watch every movie I haven’t seen yet.

Same, although I might tune in to watch IU and OSU curb stomp whichever SEC team they play.

My boys almost 5 as well, couldn’t agree more about keeping them that age forever. They do dumb shit that makes you laugh and my boy is really leaning into liking everything I like. It’s pure magic

This is the best take I've heard. And to be fair Lavar doesn't know a lot of things lol. I listen to them every morning on the way to work and many times I had to just change the station.
Example: He didn't know Ohtani is a pitcher as well as a hitter.

Back to the point though- Brady did a great job explaining this

I just still cannot believe the complete lack of morals, ethics, and integrity of every single person on that panel. Maybe those of us who couldn’t sleep if we did something like that are a dying breed in today’s society with all the money flying around, but it is a complete travesty. I’m not mad that Miami made it over us because they did win head to head, but to sit in that room and say Bama deserves to be in there over us after that last month of data then you don’t deserve to ever judge anything else ever again because your judgement is completely lacking in rational thought. Just sick for those kids on that team and especially for J Love because that kid did everything in his power to help this team achieve what it did (and what it could/should have!) love this team and this institution no matter what but just can’t believe that immoral, unethical, money grabbing group that sat in that room. Rant over, time to move on to 2026. And as always,

Haha. That's fair. I just found it crazy that someone who played football at a very high level and now sits on a podcast talking about football, you'd think he'd know the ESPN/ACC affiliation. I mean it's all over their broadcasts.

Also in fairness, I truly wonder how many casual people know that Disney owns ESPN/ABC which has huge deals with the SEC/ACC/and partially with the Big12?

Yurachek's explanation for why Bama didn't drop after getting smoked by UGA, while every other CG loser did -that Bama had already beaten UGA- makes even less sense, because UVA had previously beaten Duke. But UVA dropped. (Not that I need to convince anyone here that this is a racket.)

The other thing is that Bama's #9 rating already had the victory against UGA baked into it.

Because these folks work for universities, we have somewhat blindly assumed that they would be similar to a professor who has the students interest first and foremost. These guys are businessmen and businessmen only. They are only looking at what is best for their school and the money it can make for them. They'll make a deal with the devil if it benefits them. The days of the Moose Krause's are long gone.

Correct. It was illogical for him to say that because of said rankings going into the game.

I am not kidding when I say that someone needs to find a way to sue the committee and espn. I'm not a lawyer. I have no idea if it's possible or how you'd even prove it. But something has to be done. Otherwise, this will just happen again next year and the years following. Again, this is not just because they stripped ND from a possible championship run. It's that they cost the school a massive amount of money. That needs to be front and center of the chat. ESPN/SEC/ACC legit stole money from ND. *The ACC sort of did what they did to themselves with their dumb conference championship game rules. But when Duke won, there was clearly collusion to get an ACC team in the mix, so they're just as guilty. How much money should ND sue for damages? Honestly.

So does ESPNs president son go to Notre Dame?? Is that true?? If so that is WILD
Don't know about that, but he's said he's a huge sports fan and his favorite teams are:

Yankees
Giants
Knicks
Rangers
and you guessed it .... Notre Dame

I attended a I-AA state directional school in the 90s. As a Notre Dame fan who has seen how the sausage is made at the FCS level as a student athlete and grad assistant, I can sometimes have a hard time feeling sympathy for the big schools. Mostly Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc. LOL.

We played in a conference where being in Illinois, we were the northern most school geographically by several hundred miles. We were the "yankees" of the conference. The decision was made because it was the best fit for all the men's and women's sports. The geography made a lot more sense than what we see now in the Big Ten and ACC, but it was a fit that benefitted everyone and it wasn't entirely about money.

Not the world we're living in today and the gap between what a super league will look like to the FCS is going to dwarf what we see today and what it was 30 years ago. Collegiate athletics overall is in for a major reckoning. Not just football. Football is the center of the universe though because the profits of those programs pay for a lot all around campuses both athletic and non athletic related.

It's really a shame. Part of me just wants to devote my time and attention to my alma mater while I still have something there to support.

I know Finebaum is a clown, and an absolute SEC apologist, but what he had to say about ND was way over the top! Came across as hateful and attacking.
Dude is a forever condescending earth worm. He must kiss his reflection in the mirror every morning. Then Screaming A had a horrific take as well.
I know.
Shocking.
I can't watch that channel and that has been for about a year now. Seeing what is going on the last couple of days just solidified it.

Not sure what forum to put this in. Bud Elliot is a clown. Not sure if he doesn’t understand it or if he is doing it for clicks and engagement

This is 100% true.

The problem is there are so far brands that could actually support themselves being Independent. So, they seek collective security in conferences.
