Pyne was also under center when we beat Clemson. Does that change the narrative on his abilities?

McNamara would not be my first option, and wouldn't make the top three of the list. That being said... if the choice is him or no one, obviously I would take him. But, if it is him amongst a few other options, it would be disappointing.
That's fair.

Pretty sure Stokes is a cringy SoundCloud rapper, and he handled his recruitment with PSU in a less than classy way. His senior year has been very disappointing. Now obviously I'd take a four star commit over no one in 23 and beggars cant be choosers blah blah, but personally hoping it's someone else.

Funny, I was thinking about Stokes today.

Thought that maybe Pitt would go all-in for him. Maybe not now..

It’s bullshit. He was rapping a popular song in the car. SI making it sound like he yelled a hard R.

If they didn’t get Rashada they probably don’t force him to decommit. Most of the white kids on the team have probably done the same thing but weren’t dumb enough to video tape it. Not like he said it with any malice.

The people who think there are exceptions to that very basic rule or that said rule is somehow not common sense

It's not that he falls under some exception to the rule; it's that the consequences were disproportional.

You can't speed, but that doesn't mean some local sheriff is justified for throwing you in jail for a week for going 70 in a 60.

The kid was right to apologize for being dumb and careless. Florida overreacted in pulling a scholarship for singing a popular rap song.

Yea I mean they only pulled it bc of Rashada. No one thinks UF is some moral compass.

Also Stokes will prob end up being the QB in Miami or FSUs class so not like his life is over. But looking at his senior season, he should be grateful if he gets P5 looks after this bc he was awful this year.

I just don't like the reaction of people saying so what...wasn't a hard R....was just singing....but look at black people singing it..
...they sound like the idiots I went to HS with.

I hear you, but I do think that there really is something really problematic about saying a word is so horrible, and then using it so casually--especially in mindless entertainment.

My solution would be no one needs to be using the word casually at all, ever.

But if people insist on saying it is fine in some contexts, they shouldn't be shocked if people act confused or cross lines.

Bullshit with your no exceptions comment. So Dicaprio should be chastised for his performance in Django? Is a person racist for quoting another person using that word? Cause that's what this kid did.
Aight well this is sort of like when modern films show actors doing blackface....everyone understands that they are playing a racist character but the actor themselves is not racist. Congrats there's ur exception.

It's all about intent, or at least should be. Wasn't there a coach recently that got fired or resigned because he read the word on a screen? Seems idiotic. Is the kid racist? I highly doubt it. What is the real crime? He said a word that he was repeating in a song. I grew up in the inner city and witnessed a lot of white kids saying the word. I honestly think most people would see the video and not even flinch but the few or the people looking for offense will find offense. I sometimes feel like the people getting offended are virtue-signaling white people... but that is just my observation of the word.

I only posted it originally bc what I heard on the kid made me believe he was not a talent or culture fit for ND, and this further confirmed it (imo). I'm not out here celebrating his loss of scholly or asking for prison time.

You could be right that some are virtue signaling. I've just never understood why some people wanna say the word so bad when you could so easily not. It's just a simple matter of respect.

The key there being “weren’t dumb enough”.

Welcome to big time college football and NIL. These kids and their parents need to come to terms with the increased level of media attention and the scrutiny that comes along with that given the amount of $ that’s now involved.

Respect? Seems like an oxymoron when it comes to rap music and culture. Rap is idolized and very much a part of sports and culture in general. We can fuck them bitches and pimp them hoes but (in my Encanto voice) we don't talk about the n-word, no, no, no... I am sure the kid has said worse being a "rapper" himself. Hopefully, this changes his life and he starts doing rock and country music. Don't get me wrong, I love the old school rap but there is plenty more to bitch about with rap music than a white kid repeating a word in a rap song.

But I agree with you. Why even be in a place or situation to even say the word? Culturally he should move on to folk music.

Did Sara Silverman get a pass when she did it on her skit comedy show? Nope, she took massive heat and lost numerous jobs.
