Agreed, there defense isn’t built to handle spread teams with lots of motion and misdirection, which is what we run. There not the invincible team everyone is making them out to be.

Even if we are suppposed to be destroyed by Alabama, I’d still want Alabama. I want revenge from 2012. I wanna see ND hang with the best of the best of CFP. Hoping for a easy win where the odds work out for us that we don’t have to face Bama or Clemson in reality would imply thatND isn’t ready to be CFP.

This team is very balanced in Offense and Defense, we should not be selling them short.
For example in 2007, my NY Giants were a 10-6 Wild Card team that made it to the top and beat a 18-0 Patriots team (the Bama of NFL that year) that was supposed to destroy the Giants.

For one, we don't know if we are as we haven't been in it before to know where we stand.

Secondly, that's a silly line of reasoning. Alabama, Clemson, and others do what they can to make their schedules and paths to the championship was friendly as possible. You don't get an extra title for killing yourself on the way to the top. Good teams sometimes stumble, why make it harder on ourselves. If we have to play Alabama so be it, but if it could be avoided, why not?
