2016 Elite 11

Good to see AD make the Elite 11 after Day 1. A very good sign.

What I'm about to say next is not meant to cast shade on the staff because lets face it, one does not complain about a roster (including funnel) of Zaire, Kizer, Wimbush, Book, Davis & Jurkovec.

BUT... IF ND had a different staff this year they might have Hunter Johnson in the fold, they would have been in the mix for Jack Sears, ANY staff that would have offered Sean Clifford would have received his pledge. All 3 in the Top 5 after Day 1.

Now if only they could do that in DT's and DB's.

Continued success to Avery today and tomorrow. Go Irish!

Am I the only one hoping that Dylan McCaffrey doesn't do well so I can stick it to Michigan fans?

These things mean very little to me. These guys are all recruited for specific offenses..not structured drills. I thiink we got our guy. And in the games I watched of Johnson I was never real impressed...especially for the top rated QB. I would want Davis or Sears over Johnson (or anyone else, really) personally. But honestly, Sanford could coach any one of those guys up to be good for us so I'm more than happy with Davis.

Absolutely not, it is your duty. Plus... I know he's a physical talent and probably even better between the ears but his motion doesn't make my Top 10 list.

I think McCaffrey is a little overrated but I also think Harbaugh is a QB wizard and will coach that kid up to be great...but not if he cant ever surpass Peters who I think is a much better prospect, just one year older.

Agreed about Johnson last year (up tot the "anyone else" part). UM's Brandon Peters looked much better than him in the games I saw... another guy who a different ND staff may have landed. Also agree with having the right type of QB. I'd have taken Sears or Mond over anybody in this class. Davis is fine because if the guys are who we think they are there should be a smooth transition from Wimbush to Jurkovec. Book is an insurance policy and Davis is an athlete who will not go to waste. Ex-dual threat QB's make great APB/Slot WR's or DB's. Many get stuck at QB because they are the best player and that's where the best player needs to be at that level.

Was going to tell DONTH8 above that McCaffrey's not the one you need to worry about long term, it's the kid from Indiana that you didn't recruit.

Good call on Kellen Mond, completely forgot about him. Forgot about that Thompson kid from Louisiana also...I really like him too. But I like all 4 of Davis, Mond, Thompson and Sears more than Hunter for ND.

To piggyback on yesterday's theme... Halfway through yesterday's competition saw 2 more QB's that had ND at the top of their wish lists when the process started, Chase Garbers and Rocky Lombardi.

AD has slipped out of the Top 11 for the day. Sears still making Loy look like a genius and Sean Clifford is in the Irish depth chart if he's a year older. Kinda hard to feel sorry for a guy who got a free ride to Penn St, wait.. yeah it is.

In regards to Hunter: It was interesting to hear the thinking from ISD or 247 that said he didn't have ND higher because his personality and CBK's weren't compatible. If guys like Malik, BW and I'm assuming DK are getting along just fine with CBK, that would lead me to believe the problem wasn't on the South Bend side.
