Well it's that time again to start thinking about fall camp. Last year we got started August 2nd and would guess even earlier this year.

So with just a couple a weeks left....let's start cranking up some real football talk.

Their are so many topics to discuss...new defense, new starters, and most importantly NEW QB!

Anyway can't wait to see all the video clips and discussion over the next 6 weeks and see what kind of team we will field against Rice.

Let the fall camp discussion begin...

First question...when is the first day of practice and Kelly' s first press conference about fall camp?

I'm looking forward to all of it...except for the bolded.

ND will never lose another game and every player on the roster is an All-American and Heisman contender based off the few seconds of video we're allowed to view.

I'm most anxious about seeing any reports on Redfield, Bryant, and Koyack. If they step it up this year, we could be contending for a playoff spot; if not, then it could be a 9 or 10 win season

Good lord! I can't wait. Woke up to weather in the 50's (in Kansas in July!?!?!!), felt just like a fall morning. So pumped for Saturdays.

Also very excited for this team. The D will be more exciting scheme wise, and I think put some athletes in more natural spots. I also think this could be the first year a Kelly offense really "explodes". Potential to a be an awesome year.

Also, I think KU will be better than the worst ever, for the first time in a while. If you're into that sort of thing....

Not worried about the offense finally, or the secondary. I also think we'll pressure the QB just fine.

All comes down to stopping the run, IMO, and I'm noteably worried about our front 7 in that regard.

All in all, this the year I'm most excited about since the beginning of 2011 (2012 was a pleasant surprise, but with EG being a first time starter, I didn't have the high hopes).

Technically it isn't a QB by i understand your point.

I am excited to see the vibe of this team.

My biggest area of concern/interest is the LB corps. The offense should be ready, we have talent and depth in the secondary and I think we have the bodies to be disruptive with the front 4, but I have no idea what to expect from the LBs in terms of coverages or blitz packages.

Top 5 guys I will be studying:
1. Randolph- gotta find a good ilb until Nyles is ready.

2. Golson vs Malik-this one is just getting heated up and malik will play in games

3. Bryant- can he be the power back we desperately need. Having 3 very good fresh backs to rotate will be amazing!

4. Luke- is he ready to take over and allow Riggs to play safety alongside redfield

5. Councell- can he finally be a every game starter and be productive in the 4-3

Particularly MLB. My hope is that Morgan shows up ready to thump.

i just want to see if we will actually push the tempo on offense

I duno. I preferred the mass substitutions that gave away the play call and drained the play clock! Nothing like seeing Daniel Smith and James Onwualu trot on the field and knowing its a run play.

Seriously though, offensive tempo is probably the thing I'm looking forward to the most. We have the athletes, time to go fast and start dropping 35+ consistently. I want to see BK actually show he's an offensive genius.

Heard that for about 3 seasons now.. I'll believe it when I see it. Btw, does anyone know the Opening presser date and the start of camp? Thanks.

I'd like to see other teams nervous at the prospect of our offense being on the field.
:jump:

No excuses this season to hold back...you have the qb, talent at the skilled positions, rb's that can catch out of the backfield...let um loose

you make a good point...so often in the years under BK it has been lets take what the def gives us etc. how about we dictate what the def tries instead of always being on our heels

Personally I want to see
CB: Russell
CB: Luke
NB: Riggs
S: Shumate
S: Redfield
With Watkins as our Dime DB if we want a corner or Collinsworth if we want a S.

Yep id really like to see us be less predictable. It gets annoying seeing us show our blitzes early and on offense we never really play up tempo. Honestly think that would make a huge difference

I agree. I think this maximizes the talent on the field. We always rotate in guys anyway, but if those are our starting and crunch time guys, that is the most amount of athleticism ND has had in it's secondary in a while.

Rotate in Hardy, Collinsworth and Baratti at S, and Watkins, Farley, and Butler when advantageous at different DB positions, and we are pretty well stocked.

Am I the only one that thinks Riggs will be the starting corner along with Russel?

I know everyone thinks he's perfect for the slot/nickel, and maybe he slides there when we're in nickel, but I also think he has a great chance to be the 2nd corner.

I think he starts at CB against Rice.

Excited to see which open backfield play we'll call at the goal line.

Agreed. He's great to slide in and play nickel but he'll be starting in our base D. Cole Luke by all accounts is a future stud but I don't think people realize how good Riggs is.

I really want to see how ready Jaron is. I want to know if he's ready to be "the guy" day in and day out.
