2011 ND Uniform Survey

Last week the uniform history pictorial was published, now here's the survey to go along with it:

I know we talk about a lot of these things from time to time here at Irish Envy and I thought this would be a good way to get some solid stats on the fan base's tastes.

I encourage everyone to participate, it shouldn't take too long.

Very enjoyable - Favorite and least favorite home uniforms; best green jerseys; should ND ever wear black; shamrocks on the helmets again?; best logo on the bottom of the collar; who should get the next uniform contract; names on the back?; choices for Jack S.; a leprechaun logo?

I'm in for the leprechaun somewhere on the uni. Small shamrocks for excellance like Rudy's play last year or punt block interception etc. Just dont smear them all over that glorious helmet. Maybe a truly fine season may have a guy with 4/5 small shamrocks. As far as the helmet goes I am on record for the old gold color-so I guess the pants should match. The new gold is too much like other schools. I dont think it would be too tough to do a non chip helmet with the old dark gold.

If made my thoughts clear on this before and the blue bloods here kill me for it...

I'm all about mixing up everything about the unis for alternates... do not touch the normal homes... the helmets are off limits for reg. change but throwing the numbers or shamrocks back on there for a game here and there would NOT kill anyone... anyway...

1.) I wish they had pics for each in number one but I'm def. all for the green machine AWAY'S like the one in Irishtrian's picture... I've said that for years... white jersey's with green numbers... PIMP. Love the Shamrock and Golden Dome collars... all of that... mix it in as alternates with other concpets at least 3-4 games a year...

2.) I didn't like the J's with the blue/gold stripe down the side... but again, it didn't kill anyone and last I checked the Golden Dome still stands to this day.

3.) YES!!!! Wear Gold unis!!! but idk about ALL gold... would look better with white or blue pants... and YES!!!! the pants can change... they are NOT as sacred as the helmet...

4.) A black alternate would look awesome... gold helmets, numbers and pants with solid black jersey's and dark green trim... the best part is the blue blood would sh!t themselves... lol... maybe they'll all go away after that one and finally realize the Era and Ara is over...

5.) Old gold unis would be a must... not a cwitch back for good but, throwing them in as alternates like Oregon does with their old golds... yep...

6.) HUGE Yes to both for six.

7.) I like the dome, but any are fine.

8.) Only as an alternate... yes.

9.) The Collar HELLO... or maybe on the pants where other logos go...

10.) Other... the 1992 Sugar Bowl unis... best uni ND has is the white with green numbers imo... period.

11.) Well, see above... I type that, then I see number 11... NICE!!!

12.) Field. THe Helmets are the only thing I'm iffy on.

13.) Nike. It's a bigger name let's face it, and every little sell you can get to kids is a plus

idk how much impact... but it would def. impact it possitively... as would having the alternate unis... anything you can sell to today's youth will help... and you can sell the heck out of addias... but not as much as Nike... simple truth.

2.) I think you're talking about the Adidas with the gold flanks down the sides on the road jersey. Or are you talking about the UCLA stripes from the 1950's?

3.) A gold jersey with white pants looks okay, Purdue did that, but I'm 100% against a gold jersey. All-gold (as well as all-blue or all-green) would be an abomination much worse than painting the field or putting the shamrock back on the helmet.

4.) Black would look fine from an aesthetic point of view, heck our jerseys last year practically were black, but I can tell you from the results so far that there is virtually zero support for this. More so than any question yet.

5.) I don't know about an old gold jersey, that's never been worn before. I've always liked the old gold pants because they have an old school feel and they don't take attention away from the metallic helmet. I liken it to walking up to the dome on campus and instead of having nice classy cream colored building and darkish blue roofing, we now have the building proper gilded in metallic gold too. That's what I feel the metallic pants do nowadays. And now we have the gold numbers on the green uniforms, it's just too much gold and lessens the importance or impact of the helmets. If we're wearing gold everything or gold is all over the uniforms, our helmets aren't as special.

6.) Might be in the minority, but I never liked the '92 Sugar Bowl uniforms for the simple fact that the green outlined in blue doesn't make it look like a ND jersey. It looks like a Tulane uniform. I like the idea, but never understood why they just didn't have plain green numbers or at least outlined in gold. I desperately want to see a green version of the road jersey again.

I don't want to input my email... anyway, to clarify...

1.) I would put 1992 Sug as my fav... thanks for pointing out the link.. good stuff there... the stripe isn't as bad as I remember... I'd say the UCLA stripes with glover are SWEET... I'd love to see those again... any of the throwback greens with old gold are great also...

2.) the stripe down the side, 2001... although as stated above upon further review they aren't that bad... the Devine stripes on the sleeves are the worst ever...

4.) see above... I don't care what others think... blacks would look great... the basketball team had black alternates a year or so ago and they looked great. It's not that big of a deal... ask Oregon, the back lash would last all of five minutes...
