Listed on 247 as visiting today but says in Dalls Morning News article from yesterday that he'll be in SB over the weekend.

Doesn't mention ND in his lead group.

Four-star Southlake Carroll DB RJ Mickens talks recruiting, new coach Riley Dodge

By EJ Holland

Southlake Carroll defensive back RJ Mickens is one of the top Class of 2020 cornerback recruits in the country.

In fact, Mickens already holds more than 20 offers from powerhouse programs across the nation. And more are flooding in by the day.

Mickens spoke with The Dallas Morning News about recruiting, his new high school coach and more.

DMN: Before we get into recruiting, you have a new head coach at Southlake Carroll in Riley Dodge. What have things been like since he's taken over?

RM: He's come in like a pro and like he's done it before. Of course, he was the offensive coordinator at Flower Mound Marcus then at Justin Northwest. But you can tell he has a lot of experience. He brings a lot of energy. He's 29 years old. He comes in and gets up with us. You can talk to him almost as a player. He's a great mentor to everyone on the team.

DMN: On the recruiting front, you obviously have a ton of offers. How are you approaching the process early on?

RM: I'm kind of slow-playing it and taking it all in. But I'm starting to look into schools more now that it's coming along.

DMN: Which schools are standing out to you early on?

RM: I mean, I haven't started cutting down my list or anything like that. But I like Oklahoma a lot. I like Texas a lot even though they haven't offered. Ohio State, Clemson, Oregon, Georgia and Oklahoma State are some of the other schools I really like.

DMN: You've visited Oklahoma multiple times, and it seems like the Sooners are making a big impression. Why are they high on your list?

RM: Coach (Kerry) Cooks is a great guy. I've known him for quite a long time. I know he's doing stuff the right way. I have a lot of friends up there, and I've been there a couple of times. I'm comfortable there.

DMN: You didn't mention Texas A&M even though that's where your father, Ray Mickens, played. Are you strongly considering the Aggies?

RM: I like A&M a lot, too. They're still getting their new staff in. But I'm really close to coach (Terry) Price. I like College Station a lot. I've been up there a lot, of course. It feels like home.

DMN: Do you have any visits coming up?

RM: I plan on going to Notre Dame this weekend.
After that, I'm going to Clemson and Ohio State. I also plan on going to Georgia this spring.

Even after all this crap with pOSU going on, EJ Holland put in a CB for pOSU today. This kid is a legacy at A&M and he may to pOSU. That is crazy!

ISD freebie offering some insights as to some 2020 Defensive Recruits
https://irishsportsdaily.com/s/7563/2020-defensive-outlook

Many had the Texan pegged to stay home and he may very well end up doing so, but that's no lock. He visited Notre Dame before he was a true national prospect and returned this spring just days after receiving his offer from the Irish. Mickens’ father, Ray Mickens, had a successful NFL career, so he’s well-versed in the process and what is truly important and what’s not. Much of what Notre Dame can offer outside of football is appealing to both as well as the football program itself. Mickens hoped to get back to South Bend for a game this fall. It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, but his father is going to make sure he makes all of the visits he feels he needs to in order to make the best decision. Texas A&M, where Ray Mickens played, figures to be a factor. He also made trips to Ohio State and Clemson this summer, so they both will be in the mix as well. Stanford is a school that could be a contender for many of the same reasons as Notre Dame.
