Staes was looking at a situation where he was going to definitely be behind Evans and Raridon, and honestly, Flanagan was outplaying him later in the year. Staes is similar in a lot of ways to Yurosek. Good receiving TE, but needed a good bit of work as a blocker.
What I like about Flanagan and Raridon, is that despite being pretty green, both of them were extremely impressive as in-line blockers. We knew both were going to be good receiving TEs, but both came in and showed they could block as well. And Evans, well, dude is a stud.
