#2 Notre Dame Lax vs. Georgetown

Game starts on ESPNU in about 10 minutes. Really awful matchup for the Irish even though this is a game where we should be "heavily favored." Georgetown lost to #1 Syracuse, #4 Duke, #5 Maryland and Harvard. The games against Syracuse, Duke and Harvard were absolute squeakers and with a few different bounces of the ball Georgetown is 8-1 right now.

Georgetown poses problems for us because they have great individual defenders and some horses on offense that can score from anywhere. ND is going to have to string multiple passes together and hit outside shots (neither one is a forte of ours) to beat their defense... and to stop their offense our position based approach of limiting teams to long shots and shots with poor angles doesn't affect a Georgetown team that has guys who can rip it from anywhere on the field.

Should be a fun game... I personally expect a loss... but if ND wins we will have basically locked up a top 3 seed for the NCAA playoffs. GO IRISH!

Hmmm tied 2-2. Should be more like 4-2 with two easy transition attempts by the Irish that should've been goals.

Very frustrating game so far. Feel like we should be up 6-2 at a minimum... lots of hit pipes and scoring chances that we didn't convert... and two of their goals were utter garbage. We're probably going to need to score 9-10 to win this game so hopefully we get it together in the second half.

No, they've been talking about putting in a shot clock like they have in Major League Lacrosse.

As it stands the only limitations on possession are that you have to keep it in the box when there is less than 2 minutes remaining in the game if you have the lead, and if you aren't shooting/actively going to the goal (think 5 seconds closely guarded in basketball) the refs will call a "stall warning" and you have to keep it in the box. If the ball goes outside of the box (think offensive zone in hockey) it's an automatic turnover.

All in all, if you watched today's game this was probably one of the sloppiest/worst executed games I have ever seen, so I would suggest not judging the sport too harshly until playoff time rolls around.
