I hope Michigan State is ranked by next week

I wouldnt worry about State just yet. I'm more worried to see if we are going to beat Michigan. This is going to be a tough game and I think we will struggle against Michigan and possibly lose. Lets take it one game at a time before you want to beat State or hope they are ranked next week.

I know this is cart before horse, but here's my take on our opponents records for the season:

Nevada: 7-5
Michigan: 7-5
Michigan State: 9-3 #19
Purdue: 3-9
Washington: 3-9
USC: 10-2 #8
BC: 6-6
Washington State: 2-10
Navy: 9-4
Pittsburgh: 5-7
UConn: 3-9
Stanford: 6-6

I agree with most that there are 2 teams on our schedule that will be ranked at the end of the season. We need to leap ahead of Florida, Texas, Penn State or Ohio State, and MAYBE BYU. My thoughts are OSU gets rolled by USC, and OSU comes back to knock off PSU or Sparty gets a crack. Texas isn't losing, and I think BYU could lose to FSU in 2 weeks, or TCU. I just don't see UF losing more than 1 game, and I don't see our schedule being strong enough to leap them.

If we are 12-0 and on the outside looking in, a BCS game will not be any consolation. National title game or bust.

I don't want to jump to any conclusions here, but..........

tOSU is a much better team than we are. Are you really thinking that USC rolls tOSU, but we beat them?

Where do you see 5 losses for Nevada? Aside from Boise St and possibly Mizzou, they play an awfully weak schedule:

The rest of their schedule is:
CSU
UNLV
LATech
Utah St
Idaho
Hawaii
San Jose St
Fresno St
New Mexico St

Those teams are somewhere between #75 and #120 in the FBS with most in the #100 to @120 range.

I disagree that OSU is a much better team than we are. That opinion is certainly subject to change, but I just don't see the big disparity this year. I think USC is 14 points better than OSU in Columbus, even more on a neutral field or in LA. Until Poodle wets the carpet in a big game, I just don't see any other outcome.

Colorado State, Missouri, Fresno, and Boise. CSU looked solid against CU, although not saying much, had a nice win in Boulder. I hope I'm wrong, and that I am undervaluing the performance of our defense last week. However, I think we may have exposed Nevada.
