Interesting recruit. Born in the Tiawan, lived in Ghana until 6 and then settled outside of Tornoto. Goes to a Prep school in MD, next year will be his 5th year of HS.

Has 2000+ yds receiving, 1200+ yds rushing, 100 tkls and 10 Int's over the last 3 seasons.

Also a lacrosse player.

Now for the good/bad stuff... he's "always been a fan of Notre Dame". PSU was considered the leader until this offer. Close friends with fellow Canadian and PSU 2018 EE, Jesse Luketa.

"I've always been a fan of Notre Dame, and the receivers that have gone through there and the football tradition," Metchie said. "I'd like to experience that first hand.

Apparently Penn State is looking to get him to reclassify to the 2018 class. Still don't know if he attended Notre Dame's Junior Day (highly doubt it cause not one peep about his visit), but he could be off the board in the coming days if this does actually happen.

Not at all. You would be if you followed it up with, if we miss on both this is the demise of ND football and we'll never win again because of it. That's the cool narrative at 247 these days.

I think this recruitment strikes me as the regularly scheduled "steal from Penn State" recruitment. No inside info or anything like that, but the kid seems to absolutely love Del Alexander & would be a perfect fit as the small, quick, and shifty receiver that ND is looking for.

Post this visit, we'll know a lot more. I tend to side with you here. He is really high on ND and he hasn't even visited. Which, I could see leading to us taking the outright lead here. Should have some clarity post visit.

The early info on him when the offers first started dropping was he liked ND growing up. Penn St did a great job on him from the whistle and has a lead in visits which translates into a lead with 247/Rivals.

It wouldn't surprise me if ND can erase any lead PSU. I think ND can sell him a Will Fuller / Kevin Stepherson vision and "neg recruit" PSU on their LOADED WR recruiting with Justin Shorter/Jahan Dotson/Daniel George in the '18 class and #1 Julian Fleming coming in behind him in '20.

We can neg recruit penn state with their '18 class, but we also just signed the top WR class of Brian Kelly era this past cycle. And we have younger players that look primed to take on a larger role, too, with McKinley and Young.

Says in the description that Metchie is working to set up an OV to ND. Hopefully June 15th or 22nd weekends which are right after his Penn State OV this weekend. He'd be an excellent addition.
